Plan to keep it until 250-300k and then turn it into a raisin in the trails.

They are hard to kill, still trying to kill my 88.... Hope the 2010 is as hard! If only they didn't suffer from the little annoying shit they're pledged with like driveline vibes, blower motor and leaf spring squeeks, steering wheel shakes, fan switch not working, etc... Imagine!

Lol! I bought my first tacoma - access cab 4 cyl 4x4 in 1999. Drove it off the lot saying I am going to keep it until the wheels fall off. Saved a lot for the down payment etc. After 14 years and all the wear and tear, CEL and fuss. I was now in a place to replace it. took it in to see what I could get out of it and was amazed. Ended up with a 2013 dcsb TRD sport that i absolutely love. Dont say forever especially the millennials that are raised on technology, cause it only gets better! Enjoy it now and upgrade when you can and you will not regret it... The simplicity of not having to manually wind down the windows is a huge upgrade for us getting on in age. These trucks only get better year by year! My 13 will probably be gone if a diesel ever appears. Love em and drive the piss out of them!!!!

    Just my two cents!

I'll keep mine as long as I can keep it on the road. My guess is it will die from terminal rust around 20 years old.

As long as I can. My current rig will probably be handed down to one of my kids when they're old enough to drive which is another 7 or so years (after I've modded the hell out of it of course!).

I'm keeping mine indefinitely. It took 9 months to find it. Of course I didn't look every day but there are like 10 used car lots in walking distance of where I live. Tacomas are popular around here.

i owned my 1990 Acura Integra for 20 years and put 318,000 miles on it. still ran perfectly when i sold it to a friend so...

@20,000 miles a year, mainly highway, it's plausible to keep it as a daily driver for 15 years and 300,000 miles.

after that, i'll buy a car, hopefully electric, and keep the truck on the side as a:

    • home depot run truck
    • tow the Shelby Cobra to the racetrack truck
    • off-road truck
    • snow-in-the-mountains-better-take-the-4x4 truck
    • help friends move truck
    • camping truck
    • i was young once truck
    • i can't let it go truck
    :)

I just sold my 1988 stripped out Toyota pickup 4x2 4 cylinder to my gardener last weekend. Bought new in November 1987, sold with only 206.5K miles and the original clutch. It never burned any oil. I expect to see it around for many years to come. The only reason I sold it was the body rust was starting to bug me a lot and the wind whistling through the holes made it impossible to talk on my cell phone over 45 MPH! Mechanically it was in great condition

I don't think my new Tacoma (2014 Access cab 4x2, 4 cylinder manual trans) is nearly as well made and the materials are not nearly as sturdy, but am hoping it lasts at least a quarter century too

I have an '09. Bought it with the intentions of keeping it for 10 years. As of right now, sticking to that. This is the only vehicle I have ever owned that I haven't gotten bored with after 3 years.
