I watched way too many cartoons to trust an all electric car submerged in water.

I think electric has real promise for something like a Jeep. Lower center of gravity, one big smooth skid, torque, torque, and more torque. But I don't think its feasible until we see the next leap forward in battery technology to increase capacity. For the time being electric is pretty much an around town and chargeing source limited range technology.

Always remember. In the evolution of all things that now work, there was a time they didn't.

Honestly, I think the market will settle somewhere in the hybrid category. I'm not even sure it will be gasoline powered hybrid either. Hydrogen fuel cells are insanely efficient. When coupled with electric everything else, it could be a game changer.

Heck, the estimated range on a fully loaded Nikola hybrid electric 18 wheeler is 800-1200 miles.

I even just saw on their website that they are offering a 4X4 UTV with 100-200 mile range, and 520 peak HP.
I was thinking it was only a matter of time, now I'm not thinking it won't be much more time at all.

Sorry, my iPhone screen doesn't like me today. Tesla and Nikola, both of which are electric and/or hybrid vehicle manufacturers.

Don't forget how much crap we all like to hook up to our truck batteries too. I don't see a battery lasting long in an offroad truck at all. Torque is expensive.

you just gotta hook up an electric motor to an alternator to charge the batteries. problem solved.

That's why I think hybrid will end up being the truck answer. Not the "hybrid" most vehicles have today, but enough battery capacity for a standard tank range, plus a small powerplant to slowly, and continuously, charge the battery bank when not at capacity.

For those of you unfamiliar with Nikola's "Nikola One" here is a video of their release event and some info. The truck is NOT a concept, it is fully functioning and their orders have gone through the roof.

A smaller version of this drive system is what I think will end up in future trucks. (Especially trucks geared toward hauling or 4X4)

A battery powering an alternator to charge itself? Or another battery running an alternator to charge a primary battery? Dude, they both violate a very fundamental law of physics.
