im buying a VERY hi-milage taco it has 350,000 kms on it and i dont really trust the motor. it still runs perfect and has been kept up to maintenance, but my question is how long should these 4 banger 2.7L motors last, and how many miles do you have on yours. im in canada so im not 100% sure on kms to mph, are these motors very difficult to rebuild and if i rebuild it what should i do to it performance wise, cams, pistons, turbo ? ect. sorry for my spelling.

The older Taco's were good to about 500,000KM after which you need engine work. These numbers are for trucks that were maintained in reasonable condition. A guy I know sold a Black Taco in TO recently with 350K on it. I've been wanting to buy it for 4 years but the bastard traded it in for $4K. It was a 99 (I think) and in good condition.

I've got 330k miles on my 2.7l and it's still going strong. Any vehicle can last a long time if somewhat taken care of. '03-07 powerstrokes are arguably the worst/most problematic diesel pickup ever produced, so I wouldn't judge all domestics based off of problems with one of those.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
350,000 km is only like 14000 mi. :)
