I have the DCLB 4x4 stock and I get 280-300 city and 330 Hwy, i believe its a 20gal tank. I am usually pretty lite on the gas about 80% of the time all the time.

That's why my next Tacoma will be the auto like yours. Everything north of 55 mph is over 2000 rpm and freeway speeds activate that little toilet flushing lever on the fuel pump.

after about 35 fill ups, my fuel indicator light turns on consistently at about 17.5 gallons down from full (i.e. when the light turns on, i go to fill up and it takes 17.5 gallons). i'll have to check on milage, but i'm pretty sure i'm getting right around 19.5 ave hiway/city. btw, how big is the tank? 21 gallons?

I've gotten my Tacoma to get over 400 miles a tank with all-highway driving and keeping my foot out of it. In town I get significantly less :(

I'm only on my 3rd tank of gas for my 2013 dclb, 4x4, but I've been able to get right at around 350 miles per tank (averaging about 18.6 mpg, roughly 18.5-19 gallons per fill up). Hoping that it will get little better after the engine breaks in.

    ???

tank, tank, tank... means nothing unless there is a standard gallon point. Surely you all don't drive until you run out of gas...??? as that would be a tank!!! (21.1 gallons)

400 miles, 350 miles,... per what part of a 'tank'? (ie. the gallons)

When the pump at the station dissengages when fuelling up, is it filled to the 21.1 Gal (80 L) capacity? I was able to add another 10 L by topping it slowly right to the fuel cap a couple times but was told that wasn't a good idea.

Who knows just when the pump disengages... There is likely a good gallon or more in the fill neck? Anyway, if you round it up after the pump first stops consistently, without overflowing, each time, then your mileage figures will be more true. If you really top it off, then next time you fill it, you don't add more after it clicks off... then you will be under-reporting, or using less gas than the true amount. Always re-fill to the same point for true mileage calculations.

Sadly, you could be in Oregon or another state that won't let you put your own gas in, and the attendant isn't allowed to round it up. For figuring mileage, however... as long as you compare two fill ups to the same point, you will have a accurate mileage... regardless if you had 20 in the tank or 21 gallons in it the two times. You are only comparing the amount used between fill-ups... 16, 17 or 18 gallons usually!

Stock 2011 DC, manual, 4x4 and usually getting around 16-16.5 mpg. I usually fill up quickly when the light comes on or sooner if it is colder (KS). I don't pay attn to the overall distance that I went and I generally am driving city miles at 45ish and with some lights.

It is a very bad idea to "top up". I used to top up my '03 until I had gas forced into the charcoal canister which cost me $600 to replace. When the pump shuts off..I stop fueling.

That's what I heard so not doing it again. I'm just wondering if the capacity of the tank takes this into consideration or not.
