My dad had a 1997 4cyl 2RZ-FE and it was at 398,800 before he scrapped it (truck was literally destroyed inside and out to the point of it being unsafe to operate). Still started up fine before the tow truck took it away... he is very abusive on vehicles. Never changed the trans fluid and his intervals were maybe 8-10,000 miles. Was sad to see it go. I grew up in that truck.

Have you brought it to someone to identify a leak? A quart of oil every 1000 miles seems excessive. How low is the compression? Have you thought about having your engine rebuilt with new piston rings etc?

Charcoal canister was 'full' according to the dealership, caused some other sensors to go haywire and throw codes everywhere 'apparently'.

TRAC (not traction control) likes to turn itself on and off sometimes, only when it's parked downhill, idk it's a weird issue -

2012, 103,000, easily the most dependable vehicle in my family, both off-road and onroad

Do you top your gas off? That will fill your canister up quick.

It overfilled once and just kept dumping, idk why but the fuel pump didn't shut off. But I'd bet my house that that's what caused it, so I'm not too worried about it happening again

225k Km, 140k miles. Besides regular maintenance, tires and brakes, only 'repair' has been front wheel bearings and heater blower motor/resistor.

I have the parts sitting here to do my heater blower resistor ASAP. Glad to learn it is at least an easy fix after living with it a few months already
