i just got into using waterless wash and was wondering what everyone else’s thoughts on it were?

My truck sits out and gets driven 80 miles everyday so without any maintenance after a wash it’s dirty in a few days. With a ca car duster and waterless wash it still looks good a week later.

Waterless wash is fine on very slightly dirty vehicle. Throw the CA duster away as it is a swirl-o-matic.

They can be but if you use lightly and you have a good wax/sealant, they work just fine.

I can't say I"ve used waterless wash but I do use the quick detailers for light dust after lightly using C/D. I do have 2 coats of sealer so not worried about using it.

    No

They significantly increase the risk of swirls. And I don’t live in a state that bans normal car washing so I have no reason to accept that risk.

The CA car duster is also an epic accident waiting to happen.

Dirt, mud, dust, etc is not harmful to your paint. So not washing it off isn’t problematic. Bird droppings, sap, berries, bug guts etc do need to be cleaned off as they damage your paint.
I wouldn’t feel bad about not cleaning it all the time.

I have no idea what an insulator wax is. Sealers and waxes help the product glide over the finish but waterless washes still cause swirls and marring regardless.

Well OK, I don't get swirls doing light dust so will continue to use it. Thanks for the info.

    Thats a physical impossibility.

There is no perfect way to wash a vehicle, just methods better than others and ways to reduce swirling.

Most people still end up needing to paint correct every year or two to erase the effects of car washing.

I've tried them out a couple times, just out of curiosity, but I don't use them regularly. I've been impressed with their performance but i've also never used them on anything more than a light dusting.

You're correct so I'll rephrase that. I don't think I get anymore swirls doing light dust than if I actually washed the vehicle using the correct method.

Waterless is typically no bueno and should be avoided, rinseless car washes are perfectly fine however.

If you're paint correcting your car every 2 years, you're doing it wrong.

How often you need to paint correct depends entirely on use and wash frequency.
If you have a restored show car you only take out to show twice a year you won’t need to paint correct often.

Rinselesses are OK so long as you are using a highly filtered water source.

It all depends on the vehicle use. To say correcting paint every 2 years is doing it wrong, that isn't exactly a true statement. All my vehicles live outside, so in 2 years it is generally time for a quick correction and coating. Not talking heavy swirls and oxidation.

I'm aware of what needs to be done for a rinseless wash.

Been using Croftgate USA Aquanil, Quick-n-Slick and waterless car wash for two years. Never have issues with any color paint. If the vehicle gets muddy, I just pressure wash the heavy stuff off and use the waterless wash.
