Yesterday I had my 30K service and during the tire rotation the tech noticed that my rims and tires (purchased on August 2014 from a well know tire place) were only attached by 3-4 threads. Thankfully they noticed and let me know. After I left I stopped back at the tire store and they said they should have used extended thread lug nuts on Tacomas and he replaced them for me.

I emailed the tire company to inform them and to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

No, I bought after market rims and tires and they put on new lug nuts as well.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Id say a minimum of 1.5 the diameter of the stud so in your case not enough!
