I didn't really deal with anyone other than the general manager directly and the guy that does the contract paperwork. I don't play the salesman games so I never needed to speak with anyone else during my purchase.

I understand. I bought mine from Toyota of Puyallup and it took four or five hours. Totally unacceptable. I told my salesman when I get ready to buy another we'll need to have a price ironed out by email or I won't set foot on their lot. I want to show up, sign and do the paperwork. No back and forth BS. Give me your final offer and if it doesn't work, I'll buy elsewhere.

I pitted every major dealer in the state against each other and bought from the one that offered the lowest price. I only communicated via email and only with those who had the authority to approve the price. I got the entire out the door price before even stepping foot on the dealers property. I went there and of course got swarmed by salesmen as soon as I exited my vehicle. I said nope, I'm here to see the GM. The look on their faces...

I dealt with three dealers and got my Tacoma from the furthest one, who was 90 miles away. All via e-mail, texting, and finally some phone calls. I never met the salesman until I drove over and signed the papers and drove home in the truck. The ironic thing is he got the exact truck I had test driven at another dealer, and I got it for a lower price than that dealer would go.

Dealers will transfer vehicles between each other, but most charge a $199 transfer fee around here. One dealership tried selling me a vehicle that wasn't even on their lot and tried sneaking the fee in their price without telling me. I ran the VIN and saw where it actually was and contacted them. Their price was much lower.

Nailed it...just do it via phone. Thats all of course after you have been to the lot, seen what you want and test drive it.

That's how I bought my 2014 f150, my wife's 2016 ford escape and my 2016 tacoma. My local dealers have a "buy it now" fixed price that are ridiculously high. So I drove from 150 to 400 miles to get my vehicles and saved between $1500 and $2500 on all 3. The best overall deal was a 4 hour drive, 15 minutes in the dealer and 4 hour drive home. Every deal was worth the rental car and a couple hour drive. I will never buy local again.

Same with my local dealers. They won't budge from MSRP. I always drive to the Seattle area to buy. I bought a 2016 Jeep Patriot two years ago. Local stealerships wouldn't come off MSRP, but after rebates etc I saved nearly 8k by driving a few hours.

Went and priced a Tacoma yesterday. Looking to hop in a 2018 before the year is up... Is this a good deal??? 2018 4x4 TRD OR Silver. No tech or premium package.

$100 "Government" fee and $599 document fee? Haha nope. Tell them to knock it the fuck off.

Part depends on your local market. Long bed or short bed? But that price is too high.

Those steps boost the price, but a short bed and with no technology or premium the out-the-door price still seems high. Especially that document fee. He might be more amenable to a deal near the end of the month, but then the truck might be sold already--it's a balancing act.

There should be an extra 1000 rebate for financing through TFS ask for that off the current sale price. The dealer gets that back on the back end so it’s nothing out of pocket for them.

I never pay for accessories unless I specially asked for them. Mine had the OEM tonneau, side steps, all weather mats, and sill protectors, I paid 33,900 with an MSRP of 39xxx.

Yeah I figured the step boards would boost the price a little but like you said it still seems high. Im planning to look around at a few other dealerships (Milton Martin Toyota in Gainesville Georgia and Toyota Mall of Georgia). This Toyota dealership is in Athens Georgia. Gonna try to get the best deal I can especially with it being the end of the year.
