    Update on final pricing:

So before heading out to the out of town dealership that had offered the best OTD price (final vehicle price to include taxes, document fee's, destination fees, etc...). I made one last attempt with my local Toyota dealership. The General Manager had sent me an email asking for my opinion on their service to my request for a bid. They all claim they want to "earn" your business so I decided to push the envelope. I called and asked to speak directly with the GM and give him a verbal response to his email questionnaire.

I told him I only received the one offer even after I had sent him and the other 3 dealerships the lowest offer and a chance to compete to "earn" my business and that I was now headed to a town 88 mile further out of town to Purchase the new leftover 2017 for the $35080 OTD price.

I explained that his salespeople were great and professional but that he and his dealership had not been aggressive enough on their pricing to win my loyalty.

He asked for half an hour more to discuss with his team and get back with me to see if they could win me over, and would I bring my trade in to evaluate and give me an offer.

I agreed but it must be a quick yes/no offer or I was heading to the other dealership to purchase today.

Long story short I received a bid on a 2018 DCSB 4X4 OR Package with the same options as the 2017 for OTD $35,555 a difference of $475. We sealed the deal and i'm now the owner of the the 2018 (and the payments that come with it, lol).

Moral of the story MAKE THEM EARN YOUR BUSINESS! They say it, hold them to it.

Side note while doing financing the guy allowed me to see what the dealer showed on the sale. It was a -$1328.00 (below their invoice) and he stated he wasn't supposed to show it but thought I made a great deal and wanted to show me. Truth or fiction? Don't know but I feel real good on the deal and no need to be ashamed of my effort to work it. They have withholds and still make money just not as much.

    What's Up!

New to the site, getting ready to purchase a new Tacoma, read the entire thread, but there was a lot lol.

    Phoenix, AZ
    No Trade In

    Getting quotes for:
    4x4 DCSB OR
    Auto
    Cement
    Tech Package
    Premium Package

I'm pretty much getting invoice, nothing below --- (Nothing in stock, and looking like I have to build).

Should I be pushing harder? Or is that about the rate in AZ? Any Dealer suggestions? (I've emailed every dealer in AZ)

Also, just to confirm TDA and Doc Fee's are negotiable? One is charging $647 for TDA --- Other is not charging me TDA, but is charging me $354 in Doc Fees, with $850 in Registration

Sorry if i missed anything, first time posting, but any insight would be great!

Agreed, only my shopping experience showed doc fees from 388-999! The 388 just had a higher vehicle price. My most competitive dealers were 499 and 595. But yes, doc fees can be all over the place and for the sake of this thread should be itemized for maximum benefit to others.

Hey all, I just joined. Wife and I are looking at a 2018 double cab short bed 4x2 SR 4 cylinder. With a Costco member discount, one dealer quoted us $25,228 plus fees (tax, title, tags, blah blah) So I'm thinking that puts us right around $26,000 to drive it off the lot. The model we were shown had a few bells and whistles such as door sill protectors, (AC & back up cam is standard), power windows & door locks, Pre collision warning, Lane Departure Assist. This seems like a fair price. Might check out another dealer just for comparison. The only thing we need to change are the steel wheels, maybe for some SR5 alloys or even a custom wheel shop. Thoughts on the quote? Thanks in advance.

What was the MSRP on that particular truck quoted at $25228?

Seems like a reasonable deal. If you like the truck, go for it. I found the costco shopping experience pretty solid when buying an outback.

Yeah it sounded pretty good to us. The truck is great except for those steel wheels but that is an easy fix. I just wanted to make sure we were getting a good deal. Yeah the Costco program seems to be pretty cool. They just sent us to the furthest Toyota dealer in town. May want to see if the closer dealers can match or even beat the quote. I appreciate the input!

If it's the SR with the painted front bumper then that's a pretty fair price. If it's the work truck package (rear seat delete, black front bumper, etc) then those msrp for around 25k.

The SR we looked at looked like a "dumbed down" SR5 with color matching front and rear bumper (well the sides of the rear bumper) It didn't have the feel that it was just a work truck aside from the aforementioned steel wheels. So with the extra options, I think the $26,000 neighborhood is a pretty good deal. Thanks!

Wait till closer to the end of the month and if they need a sale to hit their quota, they might be more willing to negotiate. You can use your Costco price as a reference. Check out the podcast “this American life” episode “129 cars”. Might give you some dealership perspective.

I'll check it out. Yeah we want to save up a bit more for a down payment but I think we're pretty close to our target price. Thanks !

    $35,250 through Edmunds

Cement ORs seem like they're hard to find in the Bay Area. Found one in Stockton with the Edmunds deal, took the Amtrak and saved a few thousand dollars.

Didn't care about the all weather mats, knew I was going to replace them with WeatherTech anyway. Do regret not getting a bed mat, totally worth it. Your payloads are going to slide everywhere without one.

How much is Toyota getting for their bed mat? Reason I ask is I paid $30 for the one in my TRD and it's been great! Not sure what brand it is but I got it from a place that sells truck accessories.

I somewhat remembered seeing $80 as a list price for the bed mat for OEM.

Hold on a sec. $35,555 OTD with a OF Package?
(OF is the premium with leather seats and moonroof right?)

I'm showing this post to a dealer near by that I placed a order around Christmas for a Off-Road 4x4 LONG BED with Premium in mag gray and I'm still waiting for it. They're offering at invoice on the truck and packages.

That was for the 2018 DCSB 4X4 with an Off Road (OR) package, not the premium with leather seat etc...
