I don't recall the wording, but you can always use their numbers to counter.... tell them you want it at $35K flat at the 3.99 interest. If you do that, watch the numbers in the paperwork, that's where they try and sneak things back in.

Another option if they won't give you both would be to take the 1k and then immediately refi w/ your credit union/bank. At least look at the rates you can get so you have options.

FWIW I just got mine with an interest rate of 1.9% through the dealer. My local credit union also could do 2.4% so maybe check that out

I've also agreed to the price and then when it comes to the financing, just show them what your CU can do and oftentimes they'll match it on the spot. Best of both worlds then.

That is the deal with finance through Toyota Financial right now. I think it is 1.9% on 60 months or 2.9% on 72 months or $1000 cashback. You can pick one of the three. Not sure where you are getting 3.9% though, that doesn't sound too good... Anyway if you can get a loan through your bank at a good interest rate it might be better to get that and then take the $1000 from Toyota. But if you can't get a better rate then you might save enough on interest by taking the lower APR from the Toyota loan. It all depends on what you can do with your bank vs. TF and whether you'd rather have cash in hand now and slightly higher monthly payment or keep the payment a little lower and pay less over the life of the vehicle. Then things can get really complicated with Time Value of Money, inflation, and all that other jazz, but in the end you have to decide which is more important or a better deal for yourself.

3.9% for up to 72 months is the current promo rate for the Oregon / Washington region.

Bought my truck on Tuesday. My credit union offered me 3.24% (best rate right now) and then knocked it down to 2.99% after a bundling discount. I gave Toyota Financial an opportunity to beat that and they couldn't.

When I was talking financing w/ the dealer they didn't mention anything about it being an either / or situation. I think all Tacomas get the $1000 off right now regardless of funding.

But again, talk to a credit union and get preapproved. Never hurts to have options. The application took me like 5 minutes online.

I don't know why the Tacoma offer is 3.9% while Tundras are 0.9% or something super low. I guess it's just demand.

Interesting, didn't realize that was regional. What I've seen is 1.9% APR on 60 months, 2.9% APR on 72 months, OR $1000 cashback. It was definitely an either/or offer. I guess it doesn't specifically say that it is either/or in what you are showing, but if you look closely at the fine print/details of the APR deal or the cashback deal, they both say something along the lines of "cannot be combined with other offers". So you can't do both at the same time.

And here's the details from the cashback offer.

Yeah it certainly might be that way... I might have missed it while the finance guy was doing his best "I'm personally insulted that you don't want to pay for our useless window etching" act

Here's a fun fact I just gleaned... The holdback (money Toyota pays the dealer upon actual sale) on these is 2% of invoice. So for most folks, this is ~ $600 (SR) to ~$1,000 (Pro). Use that to help calculate how deep the rabbit hole goes.

$39600.00 out the door..man it was tough to get below 40 between 5 dealers.

You guys are awesome! So much good information to refer to while I made my final decisions.

I ended up getting my goal interest rate of 3.79% through BECU (local credit union) and the $1000 rebate.

Just a couple months ago in the PNW our interest rates were in the low 2% range but I couldn't find anything this month below 3.79% at two credit unions, State farm bank (they approved me but for a whopping 5.9%), Chase bank (as low as only 4.6%), and through the dealership (3.99% but no rebate allowed). So I'm content with what I got...

A brand spanking new OR DCLB :)

I wish i could get a Pro for under $40k or even at the invoice price, dealer can keep their holdback...i'd buy one already. I won't need any accessories, maybe all weather mats but nothing else as it will be replaced with TW vendor items.
Paying MSRP at any given time doesn't give me any incentive to rush my purchase. Dealers in my area (Seattle) won't budge more than around $1500 for an OR/Sport.
