Shopping around for the clear bra on my new Tacoma QC TRD Sport. I was interested in the 3M or Avery Nano film. Had a few questions for those that did it.

Wondering how much everyone was paying?

Did you install yourself or used installer?

    How much did you cover?

    Thanks

i don’t remember. i know we got the one from toyota. we took it in like 5 weeks or so after we got the truck. i got a free detail. since they had to clean it any ways. but the did my wheels and even the in side i was happy.

Edit: hear is how far it goes back. to my finger tip. [IMG]

These usually cost around 400-600 dollars to be installed. Trust me, you need to pay someone to do this for you. It is extremely difficult and if you you do it yourself you will likely end up with a lot of air bubbles and the film wont be lined up right. Just my two cents

I had mine done the first week we got the truck. Went with 3M, price was about $600. Well worth it. I've had 3M on three cars now and it is worth it. A lot better than having to do paint work.

    Just bought it!
Do clear bras cover the lower bumper corners by the fog lights? that's the only part I'm ever worried about. I live in the city so parallel parkers are a threat. I know the clear film isn't going to protect me against that much, but I figure anything I can get between my truck and someone elses can't hurt, especially for minor paint smudges.

Thanks all. I was quoted about $700 for 3m pre-cut installed. Said it lasts about 5 years. On the fence over it... Just think it's a bit overpriced.

It is expensive but it will keep the front of your truck chip free. Also the kit should include your side mirrors, if they're painted, which will get eat up if they're not protected.

Probably a stupid question but do you wax the areas with the film when you wax the rest of the truck?

I found a good shop here in Tampa a while ago. They did all 4 door cups, hood up to the front line of the hood scoop, the front section of the hood scoop and the painted part around the grill. I think it was around $375 - $400. The door cups were the only pre-cut pieces, the rest were templates on the computer, which I had them make some adjustments before they cut it. They did awesome work.

They told me to only use spray wax and not paste, because you can get build up at the edge of the film
