How much do you pay for electricity? The rate can be found on your monthly bill.

I just renewed my plan with my electric provider in Maryland March 2018.

    Your Electricity Plan Details
    YOUR PRICE 7.09 cents/kWh
    CONTRACT TERM 36 Months

As of March 2018 Google: The average cost for electricity in the United States is 10.44 cents per kWh. Electricity prices vary widely across the US, as low as 7.13 cents per kWh in Washington to 33.43 cents per kWh in Hawaii.

On average, a home in the US uses 911 kWh of electricity per month.

Side note: you can't multiply your kWh usage by cents/kWh and get your bill because you most likely get hit with delivery charges. Example last month my bill was $51.06 for electric + $34.03 delivery charges + $.86 taxes = total $85.95

I belong to a customer owned co-op. Costs are .11 per kwh after all the add-ons. Not really that high, or that reliable. Have to have a BF generator, 'course I live way out in the boonies.

Ontario, Canada - we are on time of use billing:

Off Peak (7:00PM - 7:00AM Weekdays, and weekends and holidays) - $0.065 per kWh
    Mid Peak (7:00AM - 11:00AM and 5:00PM - 7:00PM Weekdays) - $0.094 per kWh
    Peak (11:00AM - 5:00PM Weekdays) - $0.132 per kWh

Plus Delivery (roughly $45/mo) plus "Regulatory charge" (roughly $5/mo) + 13% taxes.

My July bill was $238.61 for 1421 kWh. My summer usage is high due to pool pump. In winter my usage is 700-800 kWh/month typically.

Some of the highest electrical rates in North America..............

Hawaii rates are crazy high. Our plan is to move there eventually, so I've been researching costs of things compared to what we're used too. This may be too much info, but it's interesting info and relevant to the topic. Note my rates vary by time of day and season. Summer I'm paying $0.131/kwh, while on the Big Island of Hawaii the rate is $0.342/kwh!

Yet another reason not to live there, haha.

I pay way more for delivery than for the actual power itself and that makes me furious. But what can you do?

    OP, yours is pretty cheap!
Even in WV, my rate is 10.2 cents/kWh
I was actually looking this up last night to calculate how much buying another window AC unit would really cost me!

Price per KW is irrelevant here. The delivery, distribution, and taxes make up more than 90% of my bill. These are fixed so I have no incentive to conserve.
I do have a efficient home but my last bill (July) was about $60 and only about $5 were for generation.
Major usage was probably AC, refrigerator, and freezer.
