Day 1 when I got my 2006 back from the frame replacement I sprayed everything underneath with AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal Protector. Best thing I have ever done to my trucks.

Sprays on real light, runs easily, takes a day or two to dry and I used about 2-2.5 cans on the whole frame. It drys like a wax and keeps all the salt/gunk away from the frame. My frame was in perfect condition after two years. Didn't have a spot of rust. Also sprayed up my 2016 the day I got it. HIGHLY recommend doing this.

Here is the thread I initially found this product. Lots of information here!

If you live in a salt state avoid winter car washes that use a underbody spray. Car washes recycle water, they run it thru filters to reduce dirt. These filters do not remove salt, so effectively what you are doing is spraying salt water under pressure to all your underbody area.

If they use soap in the under spray, and I doubt they do, all it would do is allow the spray to penetrate further. Chemically soap would have no effect on salt.

I live near a since imploded steel mill I can rember the workers vehicles being covered in rust dust. They probably didn't mind rust at all.

I just called one place near me, they said they recycle their water, and that the underbody is just sprayed with water and no soap.. So I asked, "If its recycled and its just spraying water, doesnt that mean you are spraying everyone's car with salt water?" She said, "oh no its a separate system" so you do not recycle the water? I dont get it. Ill just have to go taste test all their water. Ill be back in ten minutes drenched with a few new diseases.

Probably no worse than driving on a wet salted road. I wouldn't recommend driving on a wet salty road, but when you do, and your visibility is obscured by salt spray and it's to cold to play with Windex, what are you going to do?
