Ok TW kids, here's the question.
What is the amount of torsional flex between the bed and cab?
I am considering a bed rack that will cantileaver over the cab. I would like to keep it as low as possible while offering full flex. DCSB but extended cabs and long beds should also be fairly close.
    Thank you.

Only issue with this video and I am a ford fan. It seems to be a glorified this is a ford truck video. You, me, and the other guys have no way of knowing that each truck was driven the same style and same driver, same loads etc.

Ford well shelby which is ford got in big trouble a few years ago for fauxing a picture of a shelby gt500 at launch standing up on its rear wheels. Muscle mustang and fast fords found the photoshop and trickery and called them out. They admitted and since then I lost a little faith in ford.

Of course it's a Ford commercial, but the point is that you can and will get a LOT more flex than you would imagine. Just as I won't run a "boot" on a shell, I would not build anything on the cab roof that overhangs the shell, or vice verse.

When I got my cap I could notice the flex, but not much. There was less than an inch between the cap and cab and it never touched, even the side to side was noticeable with a hard bump but never more than a fraction of an inch

That was in a 12 dclb

    Thanks everone.
I might just stick to cab mounting the kayaks but with a custom rack instead of my current Thule setup.
Thinking of a flat rack such as the Baja.
I was looking for a longer bar spread and stronger mount. Though, I have not had a problem with the Thule.
