Lady in the chevy turned left in front of me, cop thinks hers is totaled. I was only doing 30 mph but my airbag deployed. Luckily I wasn't at fault so I won't have to pay. No major injuries. Pretty bummed out, I want my truck back. Doesn't look totaled right? Drivers side doors won't open.

Most of the time when the airbags are deployed they total it unfortunately.

Nawww. You need a new light, front fender, lower bumper(get a steel bumper), and a door shell. But then again the airbags did go off so im not sure what the insurance will say.

She was in a rental car too, when I got the accident report this morning it had enterprises insurance company with license plate of her car as policy number. I'm assuming they won't screw me over

Make them check the suspension mounts on the frame. Mine took the same hit... about 30 mph, and looked about the same damage... it bent a suspension mount on the frame and they replaced my entire frame because the truck was only a few weeks old. Bill = $15,000. Cheaper than totaling it. They would probably total yours if that mount is bent.

"A-1 wheel upgrade" from dealer, from those five spoke stealies to six spoke alloys. Bought it used with them already on, I think the original owner got suckered into spending extra for those.

I was told they need to be over like 70-75% of vehicle value damage to total it out, but you know if they fix it it will never be the same.

It's a '14. Doubtful on a total unless its super high miles or clapped out in some other way.

Who cares how much the repair costs? That's her problem.

What's important is that it's repaired correctly, so when it's all said and done, only pictures will be able to recall how it is now.

    Glad you are ok.

BTW, although sometimes they are pretty good at it, LEOs really should stay out of the repair estimate business, and stick to the at fault component, along with all the proper paperwork for the vehicles, drivers, etc. No offense to any LEOs. But the info just can set wrong expectations for both the insured and create headaches for the adjusters when the insured says 'but the LEO said'.........

Like Clearwater said, because of how new it is, they might fix it, but do you really want it back after all that? As others have said though, any frame damage and it's done for. Airbags and frame damage is pretty much an automatic total from what I have seen.

Had an accident back in April at the time, USAA told me that if it was over 60% of the value or air bags were deployed is a totaled. (which it was cost of repair was around 5500 vehicle was worth 8400) Idk if that is across the board for all companies or each have their own policies.

If it was a 2012 or oder it would be a total for sure. Seeing that its a 14, they may just fix it if the frame is not involved.

I talked to a friend who's family owns a very reputable body shop in my area and they say the % depends on the vehicle and the insurance company, they had fixed trucks that the damage quote was 80% of the value, but they also said most cars won't go nearly that high.
