$30k is waay too much. I dealt with salvage cars some years ago and I can say that you shouldnt buy a salvage title vehicle if it's not saving you at least 60% off its retail value.

I paid $29k for mine, new, with every option possible, w/o the supercharger. You are getting ripped off big time if you pay anything over $20k. Please don't go full retard on us and take all of this as sound advice. I wouldn't buy this truck period because someone is hiding something big from you. If I did have to buy this, I wouldn't pay a dime over $16k. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Nobody trashes out a vehicle for that little damage. There's something you're not being told. Carfax/VIN search is mandatory and find out if it's from the East Coast. Lotta vehicles that got drowned during Hurricane Sandy showing up on the market.

Never mind, you're just committing online vehicle purchase suicide. Sorry I wasted my time. I think a fair price would be 30k. Make sure you pay the seller in cash. Don't bother with the paperwork, that's for pussies.

Have you checked out the vin and carfax for problems yet? When I was looking to buy a tacoma, I found my current truck on craiglist being sold as a salvage title. I was more than happy to find a 4x4 DCLB with 30k miles for 18500$. I checked out the vin and saw that it had in fact been in an accident and deduced that the front left quarter panel, front left rim, drivers side door, and some mounts in the hood had been replaced. It was a good amount of damage but when it came time to change names on the title it came up clean(as in not salvaged).

The previous owner did not know the difference between being in an accident and being totaled(or someone had told him wrong). I ended up with a 26k truck for 18500 because of his stupidity.

27k is far too much, however....

My 2010 DBL cab Sport short bed with 3 miles and rustproofing was 30k. The guy is asking 30k for a salvaged truck with 5k miles...DON'T DO IT!

Keep us updated on what you do though, in the end it's your choice to make. Hopefully you take our advice into consideration.

I was considering buying a salvage title truck. Called the state to see what was necessary to get it liscenced--they advised that it could take a couple months.
just my 2 cents-check your state FIRST.

It's probably already mentioned but what defines a salvage title is when the cost of repair meets or exceeds the value of vehicle, or insurance co. has a cap $$$$ & will total a vehicle if it exceeds said cap
