I sure am glad to know I'm not the only one. I am 26, she is 27. We have been together almost 4 years. I popped the question 2 weeks ago. She had put some pressure on me in the past, allI had to say was that did she want me asking because I got pressured into it? Or because I wanted to... Got me off the hook for about a year. We also bought a house together, I asked her how much bigger of a commitment did she want? LOL. But I am glad I finally asked. Now the wedding planning is driving me nuts, and boy oh boy is stuff getting expensive fast. All my mods have been put on hold, and that is lame.

    We were friends for ~3yrs
    Dated for ~3yrs
    Married at 24
    Been married for 6yrs

My wife would probably argue the balance of friends/dating, but the general timeline is right.

My family and I went through some rough stuff while she and I were dating. She was there trough some family illnesses and during our first year married I lost a parent, 2 grand parents, and an uncle. After that we were always a team. I don't know that I was in hurry to get married, I just stopped questioning if we would ever be apart, why not live together, get tax benefits together, let here pay my way through school....wait, that's a different story :)

I'm 21 and I proposed at 18 we still haven't gotten married (told her it's a going to long engagement also told her it's like a promise I'll never leave her) she wants to rush it I said we should wait till we are done with college to have a stable financial situation, doesn't help alot of people say we should just get married already. Also told her it's not like I'm gonna leave her cause we're not married. It is really just a piece of paper, I do plan on getting it sometime just not now.

Don't listen to other people or be pressured it only gets you into shit. Do what you feel is right. If it's asking then ask, if it's waiting then have a talk and wait. Either way you love her so you ain't gonna leave her.

Met when I was 27 & she was just 22.
    Got married at 30 & 25.
Will be married 8 years on 9/27.
    Two kids - 6 1/2 and 3 1/2.
    I'm a lucky guy....

Don't get married just to make her happy & shut her up. You have to want to commit.
With my wife I knew the first time I saw her that she was the one...:D

hmm... Wow this thread is meant for me haha. Been with a girl for four years now, her parents got married young so she thinks she should also. I will soon be 23 and she just turned 21. I'm sick of hearing from others that it is time to tie the knot because I'm the one who should have to want this this right? When I'm ready I will but when, I don't know for sure.

My question is that do I continue to make her wait, and listen to the nagging to get her a ring? Am I wasting this girl's time from finding a significant other? Do I let her go? I'll tell you that this is stressing me out, because I am not ready.

Do not get pressured into any decision, like marriage. Do it when the time is right for you and your girl friend. Every body else will always have an opinion, you have to live with the decision, not the others. You will know when the time is right.

My wife and I met on 9-11-01, it was set up long before but when the shit hit the fan everyone that was going to go went home to their loved ones. I was going home to an empty apt, my sister was going home to an empty apt. and the girl I was spozed to meet was also going home to an empty place. So instead of making a date of it we just drank and talked. We got married about three and a half years later. It was the second for both of us so we went to a justice of the peace, and got hitched on 12-3 04.

I can't say its true for every situation, but its time to get married when and only when it is a HUGE deal for you. I am on marriage number 3. on the first two I chose poorly. I was with both of them for at least a year before marriage, and both ended in FAIL. My current wife and I dated for 2 months before I asked, we were married at 3 months. That was 10 years ago this November. When its right, you will have no doubts or questions.
