We dated for about 6.5 years before getting engaged in April. We'll be married next month (a week before her 22nd birthday).

I know what you're going through, bro. Her and her family started hounding me about getting married about a year or two ago. She would mention it every now and then. It especially got bad after her grandma passed away and when her younger cousin got engaged to her boyfriend after a year of dating.

    A little heads up...
After you get engaged and set a date, time will fucking FLY!

I've been married since I was 24. I knew she was the right woman. And I didn't want a teenager when I'm in my 60s. By the time I'm in my 50s my kids will be out of the house and doing there own thing I hope and I can still enjoy being young. Just some fyi

Your 22! Idiots around you shouldn't be pushing you so early.

I waited till I was 40. I didn't get serious with one girl till I was 32. We dated 8 years.

You two are missing one he'll of an adventure.

Her family(mainly grandma) asks me every time i go over there, "when are you gonna propose, you gotta get married before i die!".(imagine crazy old southern woman who's def) lol. We have been dating for a long time but, she still has another year or so of school in new york city and i hate that place.

Go to couples counseling together... if you still want to be with her after the classes and you feel she is the right one for the rest of your life then go for it...

But like others have said you have your whole life and you are young, no matter what dont feel pressured by anyone... And you should communicate with her about how you feel about it all the time.

Open Communication with your significate other is the single most important thing... The divorce rate is so high since people cant even tell the person they see every day how they are feeling about their day to day feelings or thoughts.

    I'm a serial monogamist.

First GF - about 8 months solid, then a few months apart, then another year or so.
    Second GF - 2 years
    Third GF - 3 years
4th GF - 5 years (asked at about 4 years). married 1 year, last Sunday.

Plus a couple of 2-6 monthers in there.

I met my wife and we dated for 2 months, engaged 2 months and then married. so far 27 years. bumps here and there, but still going strong. I was 24 she was 20. We married with two years of college left and had our first son a year later during college. I worked part time and went to school full time. It still worked out. But don't be pushed into any marriage. Divorce rate is 50 percent. Selfishness is the main cause of that.

I've been with my girlfriend for a year now and I am no where close to asking her to marry me. I really do hope it happens someday, but I'm thinking a couple more years before we are ready. I'm also ten years older than you. I worry about having teenage kids when I am 50 years old and I feel like I need to get the ball rolling if I am going to have a family. But I am not going to rush it, the penalty for marrying the wrong woman and having kids with her is too damn high.

I have a friend who was married at 22 and a father by 23. He's happy, even ten years later.

I guess my advice to you would be to wait until you are ready and don't rush it. Even if you wait till you are 25, that's a lot of growing up you are going to do by then. But there is something to be said for knowing she's the one and not being scared to jump in early, start a family, and have the kids out of your house early so you can go back to partying.:D

ive been w/ my lady for 10 years and we have a kid together. she really wants me to propose but i dont believe in marriage. if worse comes to worse, marriage leads to divorce=a lot of money. at least if youre not married, if it doesnt work out you can easily just leave
