From the reaction I get when I let people know that I have a 2.7L Access Cab PreRunner, I assume that I have a rare Tacoma. Does anyone have any build numbers for the 2nd Gen Tacoma? Actually, any year within the 2nd generation will do.

But the main point is to find out how many single/access/double cabs and with what engine were built.

I would not use the word rare, but certain combos are a little hard to come by when out truck hunting. reg cab PreRunners, A/Cab 4cyl Prerunners are prob the least built combos, and reg cab 4WD's are not real common in the south, seem to be a little more popular in snow country. D/Cab 4.0L, auto or 6spd longbeds are not an extremely high volume build either, but they are out there. Since Toyota does not build as many body/chassiss/drivetrain combos as the big 3, with almost unlimited different option combinations, the chance that there is not another truck just like yours is what is rare.

Trying to find an '08 with VSC, downhill assist, etc, is probably pretty hard. I saw it offered in my area, but never on the lot.

From what I see at dealers lots and on the road, far more double cabs are produced than anything else. I seldom see a Access Cab, and I almost never see reg cabs (unless they are company vehicles).

I agree that regular cab 4wd Tacos are pretty uncommon. This area is pickup country, there are almost more trucks than cars around here, and every imaginable make/combo. Since getting mine, I've only seen one other 2nd Gen regular cab 4x4 in this area. I'm sure that there are more around, but I've not seen them. I see lots of DCs and a few ACs.

I couldnt find a single Taco in my area with the specs I wanted. There were only a few 4x4's I found and most were not at least SR5 models......and not a one had the tow package on them...so we tried to build an 08 and that got denied so my 2009 is sitting at the lot waiting on the paperwork to be done and for pickup!

Do they make a manual, long bed, DC with the V6 at all?? I haven't been able to find any and the stealership told me they did not exist.

I wanted a stick with the V6 most of all- but a DC woulda been nice.

I've got an Access Cab, V6, 6spd, Base model (no SR5). I hear it's a pretty rare combo... Most of the Access Cabs I see are V6 and SR5 and/or TRD.

I seem to have the most common truck in my area, 4x4 dc sb. I know of one reg cab 4x4 in the area, dealership only sell what will sell, order the rest.

I've seen one truck like mine (4x2 access cab) since I've bought it. You rarely see the mini's around, imo.

There a few Double Cabs with 6-speeds, I believe. When I was shopping they were an option.

I live in so cal and Toyota PreRunner's are a dime a dozen out here. I do notice allot of double cabs also but we sure do have allot of A/C . I notice that the people driving the a/c are younger kids. Probably has to do with price range. I don't think I have seen more than 1-2 PreRunner reg cabs running around. I imagine each state and city is different. We don't get any snow down here in the city so not to many 4x4's running around but if you venture up to Utah or Colorado yes there are more 4x4's. :D
