Looks great. Good outlet to go with you if have passengers in the back. Aww man. You should have done the 400 watt anytime. It would have taken you less time to do it then to take the console apart again.

Where you screwed up is when you cut the solid purple wire. The Purple with White stripe needs to be cut.

    .... I think :)

I did that, but I'm not getting any power at all. Pretty sure missing that step smoked the inverter. I found a wiring diagram but haven't had the gumption to pull it back apart and check inputs and fuses yet. Online prices for new inverters are scary too.

I have 2 kids that travel with me, it will work out great. Im not sold on that yet. I ran my truck yestersay and it charged my phone and ipad while in gear on the 100 watt. So whats the advantage of the 400 watt then.

Laptop, coffee maker. Whatever that needs more power.

I guess Im afraid I might have to much power running through the wires to the outlet and could possibly start a fire. I used an old extension cord that got damaged from a snow thrower at work. I think there 16-20 gauge wire but not sure.

Well it's still only the 400 watts. You're just able to do the 400 watts while driving.

Not sure why, but it's working today after pulling the inverter and opening it up to look for burned parts, which there were none.

Decided since it was working to go ahead and solder the hot and neutral wires together instead of use those stupid little crimp splices. Found one wire cut half in two, and neither of my extensions to the plugs even had the insulation broken (18awg left over from a ceiling fan light kit). Good wire which is why I used it, but also ran it in wire loom because it's 110V.

Has anyone stuck an AC circuit tester in their bed outlet? Mine shows hot and neutral are swapped, and that was before I started the mods so I know I didn't screw something up.

Doesn't work like that. It's 400 watts anytime vs. only 100 watts when running and in gear/driving. Still dead when the key is not in the On position and you still need to depress the inverter switch to turn the inverter (with 400 watts anytime :D) on.

I pretty sure you can bypass the 12 v outlet to have ANYTIME USB.
A bit like I bypassed my fog lights, to have them anytime, tho my key has to be in accessory for it to work.
Just need to identify the fuse, find the pin with power that gets turned off w/ignition key. And bypass it with a wire to a constant power source in the fuse box. I'm hoping there is a source of power from the fuse box that stays on without keys. I'm gonna check this weekend and take pics if successful.
I wouldn't leave anything on charge over night. But while running errands is a great idea. My GoPro will thank you for the idea.
If anyone can do quicker, please share.

I really appreciate some of the ideas posted in this thread. I hadn't really considered the idea of standard outlet with a cover plate. That gave me the idea to redo my original mod whereby I screwed up and made a crack in the back side of the storage compartment. Didn't make the hole quite large enough for the single outlet.

My original wire connections weren't good enough either so I repaired those by stripping all three wires at each connection and using standard wire nuts. Also went ahead and did the 400 watt mod and everything works fine now.

Nice set up. I used the same outlet snd bought the same cover but didnt use it cause I didnt like the edges of it sticking out. I used a razor to cut my hole so there were not any rough edges. Nice snug fit too.

I had to use the plate because of what is hidden underneath = bad.:D

It was a somewhat flexible plastic plate so it molded itself to fit the contour pretty well.

Did the mod today. An AC/USB and the 400W anytime.
Used the Pos-i-tap. And they worked great.
