I recorded a video of myself demonstrating that the 400w turns off as soon as I start rolling. Now I just need to figure out how to upload it on imgur

I was all set to take on this project, and ran into a snag before starting. Been a long time since I've used the bed outlet and I wanted to test first to ensure it is working properly before I do anything. I press the switch on the dash and nothing happens - If I hold the button, the lights on the switch light, but the switch won't lock on. Any suggestions?

Just read thru it, its a great mod and super easy only flaw i see is that its still tied in to the power converter so if something goes wrong on the outlet side its gonna hopefully just blow the converters fuse and not damaging the converter itself. that's why i made it a dedicated circuit with an inline fuse! But this is still badass!! kudos

If I dropped an inline fuse tapping from the converter, would it work?

Yes that would work, but if you blow that fuse, your always gonna have to take apart that center console to get to it.!

also that wire looks like 18 gauge or 16 which is super thin. and only has an amp rating for 2.3 amps (18) 3.7 amps (16). If you got your usb totaling at 3.1 amps and that 12v socket max is about 10 amps ( i could be wrong). 13.1 amps total, if your using all the outlets at once which i doubt you will. you will be way over the amp rating and could possibly burn up that wire going to the converter.!

    http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm

that's why i would definitely run a dedicated circuit straight to the battery!

I ran a 12 gauge wire which is a bit much but i had it at home already but only put a 5 amp fuse!

Can someone point me towards the wiring diagram or knows how LEDs in the dashboard inverter switch are powered? Im installing a plug out of a Ford and it has a green LED built in. I would like to wire it up too

Maybe a Scentsy. Just have to take out easy over bumps, so as to not spill the wax.

Whats the back look like? i'm guessing there's 3 wires coming out of it. 12v+ red, a ground (black or green) and maybe another "Power" wire for the led.?

I am not worried about this outlet. I have the wiring diagram for it. It has 4 pins. 2 for LED and 2 for 110v.
What I am trying to figure out is if there is some sort of wire for the inverter switch green and amber LEDs or not.

Just found this old post on FJ forum, and it does look like there is a power indicator wire somewhere. Just need to find it.

I tried this and had an issue... anyone have any ideas?

I began the project, ran the wires, spilled a shake in the back seat. I did not know it originally but found out after I started tapping into the wires, but the shake perfectly shot inside the center console grill thing on the back, which left a puddle under the inverter and all over the back mesh area of the inverter, suggesting it probably got some inside.

I finished up the wiring, turned on the truck, and when in park, when I push the inverter switch, the 100w and 400w lights illuminate for about 5 seconds then turn off. I disconnected the wires from the new outlet and just left them hanging (not touching) and it does the same thing. Did the effing shake short out my inverter?

The wires I used to extend the stock wires to the outlet are 14awg, stock look like 16awg. I ran out of 14awg for the two power wires, and used two 16awg wires from the outlet to a ground.

Its dark out and I am starving since the easy project turned into a longer project, so its all apart in the parking lot so I can hopefully troubleshoot it tomorrow morning before work.

Update, went out to check the fuse (assumed it was fine since the lights on the switch were coming on). It was indeed fine, started the truck just to see and now it works (lights on the switch stay on). The wires are not connected to the outlet so I guess I'll mess with it in the morning and see if it still works and try to connect the outlet again.

    Second update for future issues:
I reconnected the wiring like I had it last night and it works fine. I am guessing something (wiring/shake) caused it to have an issue last night the first time I fired it up and since I did not restart the truck in between messing with it, the ECU still said no way... thats my only guess. Theres no way that I had the wires on wrong since I triple checked (and also when I took them off during troubleshooting, one had the screw still on it so it went back on the same side).
