I never knew of these before seeing this post. I will look to purchase these. Maybe a kit that has a few of each gauge.
    Thank you

Can someone please, in a non smartass way, tell me the benefit of going 400W anytime? Im ok with wiring, but never really got a grip on watts, amps, volts ect… Im assuming you can just hook up more shit at once? Why would Toyota not put this in? Is it "bad" for the truck?

It allows you to run something even while driving. In stock configuration you can use a fan ,crockpot or something like that, but when you put it in gear it goes to 100w. In 100w it will only run a few strands of Christmas lights at best. Going anytime 400w you can be crockpot cooking on the way to grandma's house.

So I tried to do the 400 watt anytime mod to my 2008 TRD sport with the manual trans 6 speed. I cut and capped the blue with black strip. And then I cut the solid violet and tapped the end coming in. The solid violet end that comes out of the invertor was ran to ground. However the 400 watt will not stay on. It works up until the truck starts moving a couple miles an hour. The clutch doesn’t shut it off anymore but the speed still does and I’m not sure what’s wrong. As far as I can see I followed the instructions. If anybody could help it would be appreciated.

Yes ground is good. Even if it wasn’t I would imagine that it wouldn’t change anything when the truck started moving. If the ground was bad I would expect it to not go into 400 watt at all (always thinking its moving) I was just thinking about it a little more and the only thing I can come up with is that the manual trans mod requires all 3 wires to be done. Violet with white strip cut and capped, blue with black stripe cut and capped, and solid violet cut and ran to ground. when I read the post and started where it says manual trans only. So I only did the solid violet wire and the blue with black wire. I didn’t touch the violet with white stripe.

The solid violet is for A/T only...
The violet with white runner is speed for both types of transmission....

With all due respect are you sure about that? The post on page one says for manual transmission only thegoes on to explain what to do with the blue and black wire. And then what to do with the solid violet wire. Check it out. If what your saying about the violet with white wire is true then my guess is I need to cut and cap that wire also. But now I wanna make sure that I was supposed to do what I did to the solid violet wire lol.

I was just reading a thread in Toyota nation forums and in the beginning of the thread they weren’t sure if manuals needed to do the solid violet to ground or not. I continued reading through and a couple manual guys got back to the OP and said they had to do all three wires including the solid violet to ground. I’m not sure what the story is there. It looks like from your diagram it’s a neutral safety switch feed. Is it possible that the manuals have a safety switch other then the one at the clutch? Can anyone else confirm manuals don’t need the solid violet? Or do you have any referencing from other post you could share with me? If I wasn’t supposed to do that wire should I revert it back to connected? Should I leave it? Lol

How about just de-pin the Speed Sense (violet w/white) and verify your 400W works first.

Do you have any recommendations to make it easier to pull the pin out of the plastic plug? Iv always wanted to do it that way. I think it’s a much better option cause it can always be plugged back in should you want to revert it. However i can never seem to get those suckers out of the plug.

Use a leather sewing needle...they are stronger, just be patient. If you get a 3rd hand it's easier. One holding the connector and prying the lock under the pin (after releasing the terminal retainer) the 3rd pulling lightly on the wire.

Iv been at it steady for the past hour and it hasn’t so much as budged. Iv always hated these damn pins. I can rebuild an engine but god forbid I be able to get some little pins out of a plastic connector Smh

Iv tried all I can think of to get that tab to release with nothing being closer then the last. Along with multiple different tools, even tried making my own “de pin” tool.

However I’m almost fairly certain that once that wire is separated the 400 anytime mod will work. Knowing what I now, know about the wires and what they are for I looked closer at the plug and noticed that even though the end of the plug coming from the invertor has the solid violet wire that I ran to ground. The other mating plug doesn’t even have a solid violet wire, or any wire at all in the opposing spot to plug in to the solid violet wire going to invertor. So it doesn’t make a difference on the manual (at least my truck) if the solid violet is grounded, capped off, left alone, de pinned, none of those should change anything. It never had a signal source in first place.

So at this point I’ll prob just leave it grounded until I get that pin removed and verify the 400 watt works. Then I will play around with that solid violet wire and post back what I find.

Hello. Question for electrical specialists. Do you see any issues for safety(especially for truck electronics) if I extract inverter from the cabin and install it separately in the back where I already have an additional fuse panel and distribution box? The idea is to have constant AC for the truck(with and without ignition). Or maybe it's better to just keep it in a factory place but hack wires in-place to have constant power on it from the factory wire system. Battery drainage is not a question here, don't worry. And to prevent extra questions I have heavy duty welding-grade cables with 100A fuses on both ends for connecting engine area and the back of the truck.

but it's power output is OK for me, why not to use what we already have?
