It is if you plan on going over 3"

Theres a few out there none of them are cheap, personally I like the LR (light racing) UCA's, well built/easy to install/adjustable & way less $$$ than TC/Icon/Camburg maybe better still , built rite here in san diego I know the guy that designed them (James, owner of the truck shop)

    great product..

    Dont worry! its ok!

based on the above, I take it eibach spring is exactly the same spring toytech is selling for use on 1st and 2nd gen, and that the spring originally came out for 1st gen and designed to provide 3" lift as is. But then when 2nd gen came out, they sort of continued to sell the same coil but now only provide 1.6" lift? And actually, if you look at toytech site, they configure the coil + 0.85 on 5100+1/4" top spacer (which will provide additional 1/2" lift) to get the total 3" on 2nd gen. This is the same story with OME spring, which only provide 2.5" of lift (OME website spec officially says it provides 50mm lift or about 2" on 2nd gen).

seems like no manufacturer has come out with coil designed specifically for 2nd gen to provide 3" lift as is. and now the sellers (I say seller, not manufacturer) say it is ok to use top spacer to get the 3" lift? are top spacers really ok or not?

Depending how thick it is (spacer), if less than 1/2" probably be alright seeing how alot of guys are already using some kind of leveling spacer in front on 2nd gens

Well now I am confused.

I have a 14 DCSB 4X and I am just looking to level out the front end. I plan on keeping everything else stock, so when I install my 5100 I should adjust them to .85 correct? I keep getting mixed information, 1.75 or .85 to level it out.

Also, I will need a alignment with either adjustment correct?

    Thanks in advance. :D

Yup, generally anytime lifting /lowering you'll need alignment

0.85 will level it out on a brand new truck... 1.75 if you have an 1.5 AAL...(usually older gens do that cause factory springs are crap and flatten out)

So if I leave the front at .85 and have an 1.5AAL, it will give me a slight rake correct? I kinda like the rake look. lol

I still had a slight rake with 5100 set at 2.5 with a 1.5" AAL. The rear was about 1/2" taller than the front. My truck has the "TSB" leaf springs.

Quick question (new to lifts and suspension as this is the first time I've needed maintenance):

So I've replaced my stock rear leaf assemblies (broke them both) with new OEM leaf packages. There's one additional leaf in each assembly which gives me a slight lift in the rear. I've also replaced my rear shocks with Bilstein 5100s. I am going to have a shop install my front 5100s and do the alignment. I intend on just keeping my stock front coils. What should I be setting my front 5100s at in order to achieve best balance (minimal rake or lean)? .85? Am I grasping this correctly or am I way off?

    Thanks folks!

Rear spring TSB, tailgate lock, 5100s at 1.75
    Drogers0031:
I have a 2010 DCSB 4wd with the rear TSB springs and front 5100s set at 1.75. This gives me about 1" difference from front(lower) to back so I have a slight noticeable rake to the truck, but at times on different surfaces it looks very close to level. If you go .85, you will still have quite a bit of rake. The 1.75 setting with your 2010 should get you close to level with just a bit or no rake. It should also provide an alignment that is within specs. I think the look may be what you seek.

    man, i am so confused.

I have 120K miles of rough riding. stock everything. do i set the springs to 1.75 to level. someone made the comment that on a new truck you should go .85 but these have seen a fair amount of abuse so they are flattened out.

what setting do i use to level the truck.

Another way to ask this question that for every setting on the shocks you get a lift that is directly proportional to the height of the front end. So if you raised the clip to the next level it will raise the height of the truck exactly that much.

I say no because the spring rate increases as it is compressed but by how much???

On a second gen can you just buy the adjustable shock with stock coils and achieve a 2.5 inch lift? Or is buying coils recommended for ride purposes and not maxing the shock? (Also new to lifts)

I don't think you get 2.5" with 5100's & stock coils it may only be 1.85"

It'd be best to get some OME 883#'s coils maybe , I got 3" using them on my 1st gen.

I had one installed when I got my new frame and I'm getting these measurements...

    passenger-36 7/8"

    driver- 36 1/8"

This is on a 06 tacoma just wondering what I should do ? To try and correct those numbers to be even...any advice would be great.. The fronts are set at the .85 using stock coils...

    Right rear- 36"

    Left rear- 37"

All these are measured from ground to bottom of fenders...

This would be correct, you don't want anymore pre load on coils than it takes to get the strut nut on ..
