The truth is some members join TacomaWorld (TW) for the advice, some to complain, and others for the social media like community of enthusiasts. When I registered it was at first because I wanted to get advice and ideas for my newly purchased first Tacoma but now it is for much more. TW is not like other forums I've been in, there's something more here and that became evident after searching through thread after thread, noticing the consistent activity of many members and mods, and the events that many partake in here. For the new member looking for an interwebz home, here are a few tips I've learned about how to be a good contributor and well liked in this great community of enthusiasts.

    1. be cool - chill out and have a sense of humor. Although sarcasm is difficult to interpret through text it is used here often so don't be too sensitive. Most of the time someone is trying to be funny and not make a personal attack, always keep that in mind and be respectful to others regardless.

    2. be a girl - or be good at pretending to be one. It's not a secret that being a female on tw comes with extra attention so if you're not into that (like that exists...) you're in the wrong place. A females build thread is normally popular and any thread they announce themselves in gets all the guys acting goofy. That shouldn't be a surprise, a girl into trucks is almost every guys dream.

    3. be a vendor - selling a product or service is the ultimate contribution. Vendors are cherished because not only do they make awesome stuff for our trucks they also include themselves in the same passion we have, sharing their experience and wisdom. Kudos to you vendors.

    4. don't have 3rd gen mentality(3GM) - Everyone knows that 1st gen is the best gen but the 3rd gen crowd is a wonder of its own. Nobody is better at posting a new question thread about something that has been answered numerous times already and nobody complains the most about minor issues. Don't be that guy that doesn't do a search before posting and comes here just to whine about their issues...seriously

    5. spend money - By far the most recognized group of members are the ones that spend an ungodly amount of time and money on their rigs and have the build threads to prove it. The flexed out SAS trucks and the LT desert rigs getting air time are some of the more popular type of builds here but there are other great ones as well. The key isn't necessarily spending 10s of thousands of dollars, it is having a good quality build thread. Staying active on it will help make you new friends.

    6. participate in events - there are plenty to choose from. Go to a local meet. Join the secret santa. Post in the funny pics thread. Subscribe to other build threads and offer your advice and experience. Not much gets your further in life than friends and the best way to make this is reaching out and being friendly.

    7. use emoticons - there's a right and wrong way to do it. There are plenty to choose from and occasionally new one's are added. When in doubt use the popcorn.

    8.

What really makes TW worth coming to is the quality of members and all the help offered. People will really go out of their way to help you if needed, I once had a member offer to drive several hundred miles to help me weld my frame back together completely free. You just don't see that from any other forum. If you're new welcome to the site, and enjoy the plethora of valuable information it grows every day

Now that you know the basics, go forth and do great things.

You forgot #7-the FoamPile factor. Be shit house crazy and just keep feeding the trolls as they pick you apart. Then fade into TW infamy.

1 - humor and sarcasm are not allowed. this is the internet after all, very serious business
2 - there are no girls on the internet. if you think you've run into a girl here beware :spy:
3 - don't be fooled, vendors are only here to pad their own pockets
4 - 1st gen is the best, can't argue with that. why i jumped ship to T4R land....
5 - can argue here either. never i have i gone from "its perfect!" to "well...i NEED this and that and this..."
6 - meets are awesome. met a lot of cool folks because of TW, many of whom I consider to be friends

    and I think

    @minigrowl is a good dude.

Part of this should be read in the good ol' fashioned Internet language of snark, but the majority is sincere and true, even if comically.

This is a great forum and a great group of people, for sure. You're absolutely right about that.
