Can I put in a toggle switch in to bypass my traction control because my truck didn't come with a factory switch to allow me to turn off my traction control? It's really upsetting when I go to break it loose and it comes on... no fun!! :(

Are you sure you even have it? I have a 2005 as well and don't have any traction control. The only difference is that I have an SR5 vs your trd offroad, so that may be the case.

No traction control in 2005 other than the mechanical LSD in the TRD sports.

If I'm on a slick road when I go to break the tires loose it stops me and only allows it to move without spinning them. It turns off when I put it in 4wd. Maybe I could trick the ecu to think it's in 4wd so it could turn it off?

Are you braking while on the throttle?

There was an ECU flash that doesn't let you give both throttle and brake at the same time. It was part of the toyota sudden acceleration recall ( in addition to the gas pedal neutering and the dealer trying to steal door mats).

I don't know what else would cause what you're describing, unless you're hitting the engine rev limiter.

I had a 2005 TRD Off Road 4WD and it did not have any electronic traction limited slip system. It had ABS brakes and the rear locker.

However, when I traded it for this 2010 model with the traction controls, the truck off road was BETTER by a long ways. Limiting slip (TRAC and after 2012: TRAC OFF) in 4WD keeps you moving instead of power being wasted on the easiest to spin tires.

There was some use of TRAC in pre-2009 Tacomas, you should have a button and a dash light for it, I would think? It works in H2 and H4, so your going into H4 wouldn't kill it, as you describe. Your traction doubles and that may be the improvement you are experiencing?
