    idle air control :)

At idle, the TB butterfly is closed. Air for idling flows though a hole in front of the closed butterfly into a bypass air passage, through the IAC valve, and back into the intake behind the butterfly. The IAC valve is electronically controlled.

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
Here is the link in another forum i found way back.

    good pics and all.

when I bought my stang in 2003 it was a late 2000, it had a funny idle problem...
did my homework from a good stang website, and learned all about the
    Idle Air Valve.
it slowly fills up with carbon and needs to be cleaned out like every 25,000 or so.
many feel like its the 10% in ethanol that causes the excess soot buildup in some cars.
this is a simple thing to take care of, funny but the ford is easier to get to right in the forward side of the intake, and it uses 2 10m bolts, i remember since i had to do it once a year, i never had to buy a new gasket, i was just very, careful. no matter what the gov. says, emission controls just clog up engines instead of the air.
