I’m replacing all the seals at the same time. Pry bar has been no luck either :(

It really comes down to getting that c-clip in the perfect spot, and that thing should literally just fall out with a good hit on a slide hammer or prybar. A few years ago I had the same issue and a helluva time getting one of my stubs out too. I tried every method recommended on the forums and after hours I could not get the damn thing out. My final solution was this, I tightened a few round clamps around a rented slide hammer so it wouldn't pop off CV grooves and made slight rotations as i hit pulled the slide until it just slid out. When I got it rotated correctly and it finally popped, it took almost no effort.

I got a BIGGER pry bar, like 4 foot long, and it took care of that pesky CV. Now to get the stub shaft. lol.

Gonna hit it with a punch from the driver side. That was a good recommendation.

Is it possible/recommended to swap in a whole FJ front diff?

Dont see why it wouldnt be possible, but unless there's some other factor, a lot of extra work for no real additional benefit. Much easier to swap the tube.

I would assume AWD FJ front complete diff is hard to find.

Yeah the auto has a part time 4wd drive tcase withh ADD on the diff just like our tacos. The manuals had the AWD tcase without the ADD on the diff.

I take it they have the same front 8” IFS clamshell then?
Initially was in search of spare core diffs (and found some) to mail out to regear and possibly air lockers.
To reduce downtime of the truck taken apart.
Started figuring why not kill two birds with one stone and delete ADD at the same time with parts on the bench, if not able to acquire a unit already set up that way stock (such as no ADD present, etc)
Though the Delete job does appear to be pretty doable at any rate even if diff has it and is in the truck

Thought this may interest some of yall that want to do this. Bit the bullet and bought a gx470 front diff as it looked to have the same dimensions and no add. Also came with an actual socket head drain plug which i had to upgrade on my existing front diff. Total cost was less than $300 shipped from ebay. I surmise it will swap over no problem...

It should bolt right up, not sure if the gear ratios are the same. And is the GX diff (being it’s full time AWD) 2 or 4 pinion?

Its from an 03-09 gx but unsure if its 2 or 4 pinion as im not familiar with the gx's. Last time i checked online the ratio is 3.723 or something like that but i havent verified it myself.

Ill just be swapping over the axle tube and installing on my existing differential. Ill break it open and check it out though.
