My ADD failed this weekend. But it failed in the engaged possition. 4wd still works. Debating doing this mod, replacing the ADD or just living with the blinking light.

So will traction control still function normally with the ADD delete?
How about with the ADD delete and fj tcase setup?
Just want to make sure I've covered all basis before I jump in with my DD.

actually took quite a bit to break that axle. Fast-forward to 5:10 and watch, I was in double low with F/R locked along with the passenger front wheel being "wedged" in between the rock

Hey ya’ll. For those of you that have done this, running into any issues? Spraying gear oil or leaking transfer case etc? I have parts sitting in the shopping cart right now and still deciding whether it’s a good idea to go through with it. Just trying to get a consensus from people as I keep going back and forth.

If you have done the fj case swap, and do the add delete what happens with the electronics?

With the Fj case you have to run a switch to engage the add and have 4x4 so the sticks work at the case. With the ADD gone does the computer just not know when it is in 4x4 because of sensors in the case?

There are two switches on the factory case that get reused on the FJ case. When you shift the FJ case, the shift rods engage these switches so your dash lights function. They also let the comp know you’re in 4WD and 4L, switching off traction control etc at the appropriate times.

The 4WD ECU is no longer needed. Mine isn’t even in the truck any longer.

Man, back when I had a 22re pick up I strongly considered a kit like this one! I think it's so much cooler than EFI.

Has anyone done this mod without the FJ case swap and had issues getting their 4wd to engage?

I deleted the ADD on mine and now 4wd wont engage and the lights just flash on the dash. I was under the impression that the lights would blink, but that the tacoma t-case would still engage 4wd high and low..

@05Taco4x4 Do you have any idea of what i would need to do to get 4wd functioning again until i can swap in my FJ case?

Sounds like you'll be out of luck until you get the case swapped. Without the continuity of the ADD actuator limit switches, the 4wd ECU will not allow any shifting into 2wd or 4wd. There are two ways to fix this until you get your FJ case, I'd recommend the first one.

1 - Install ADD actuator in a ziplock bag and plug it back into the connector
2 - Remove tacoma electric actuator and move shift rail manually to shift into 4wd and 4lo.
