Yep Toyota has replaced the housings for those who've had issues, but mine are aftermarket, so I didn't even try.

I ran my '06 for 3 years with no troubles, knock on wood.

When I purchased my '10 I went now a size in wattage ... from something like 18 watts to 16 .... not sure right now what it is .... I keep my eyes on them.

Yeah don't get me wrong, most people do not have a problem with them. I'm just saying I'm not the only one whose turn signal lenses melted from the DRL's.

Oh, I know ... that is why I went lower in wattage and am keeping my eye on them. When I changed out the bulbs the "old" one was hotter than hell. It is a shame that this is happening ... I have seen the pictures.

I did not like the idea or looks of the running lights at first, not my normal "under the rader style", but I do notice they make those drivers on the bubble of making a left turn in front of you at an intersection to stop and yield. I find most drivers is this situation yield and wait instead of cut me off now. :D

Ya wonder if canada has diff bulbs or housings. Doesn't melt our housings and it is on all the time.

Agreed on disabling DTRL's being not a good idea though. They are responsible for MASSIVE accident reductions, and vastly increases your visibility, especially on grey days or late in the day.

If it is melting your housing though I guess you have no choice.

I agree leaving them on is most likely safer, I was just offering a reasonable answer to the question why disable them. I personally don't like them at all. I think if it was white light vs. yellow I would have an easier time but the yellow is hideous.

Just leave your lowbeams on. They shut off as soon as the drivers side door is opened anyways.

LED conversion on every accessible bulb, TRD exhaust (dealership threw in for free along with the Blu-Logic).
So happy without the stock DRLs. I added a relay to my stock fog lights to a hot lead under the dash that only is hot when the key is in "run". I have Nokya hyper-yellow 9145 bulbs in the fogs and they don't match the color of my switchback LEDs in the stock turn signal location. It was a hassle to get the 3 conductor high/low socket installed. I still have yet to post a youtube of the switchback LEDs in operation.

I FINALLY got rid of my DRLs.on my 2011 tacoma. They get so hot I was worried about melting the light fixture. Some one has pics on here showing it turning black. You need to replace the flasher with a DENSO 12v flasher (toyota part)#81980-02030 AND THEN WHERE YOU REMOVED THE JUMPER YOU NEED TO INSERT A JUNCTION BLOCK (TOYOTA PART) #82671-30360 Put it back together and your good to go.

Unlike you, we still have freedom of choice here in the USA.Also makes no sense to me to have lights active on front of a vehicle and nothing on the rear.Like no one is going to run into you while talking on a cell phone or whatever. If people would pay attention to Driving we wouldnt need all of this Goverment mandated crap. Some people like them some dont.Freedom of Choice.
