Had my 2017 Taco serviced for rear diff fluid change and brakes @ 100k miles. Tech forgot to put on one more lug nut then Got a inspection quote for $3k as the tech stated I have a timing chain cover Seal leak. After personal inspection later and seeing the missing nut...I found the slow leak at the tensioner plate lower bolt. Why not just be honest and say it's this and say the entire cover seal needs to be done. I get it, let's make money but honesty will have your customers coming back. Time to speak with the service manager. This is where things have been falling off latley in the service dept and the techs. Overall, never had any issues ever with my 2017 3.5 taco . The Brakes lasted up to 100k...crazy!!

This is an old thread but it is the first one I found that is similar to my 2017, 4x4, SR5, 4 door, LB with 170,000+ miles on it so thank you.
    .
A 1000 miles ago the dealer noticed a leak, cleaned the area and put the colored dye/liquid (whatever it was) in the engine.
I took it back yesterday for them to check the leak location ad now I am being told, basically front parts need to come off so the engine can be dropped/removed to fix the leak. $5,500 +/-.
I need to give them a deposit today, 12/13/2024, to order the parts and get it on the schedule for next week.
It sounds like I do not have a choice, right?
    Thank you,
    Jeff
