Appreciate the replies and advice - thanks! Tano, when you say the "other install" are you referring to the one with external Radio Shack type buttons or the one by Toglide that mounts in the overhead console between the map lights?

Anyone know how to set the homelink without disabling all the other garage remotes?

Simply tap into the overhead light wires. They're always hot.

Are you talking about the remotes that come with the garage door opener? They'll still work. The homelink just learns their key while pressing 'learn' on your opener accepts the homelink as another opener. It's only if you fully reset your garage door opener that it forgets all the remotes. Or, there is a way to clear out each remote individually (same procedure to clear out homelink).

Odd! When I programmed my Homelink I went down the block to do it, then back to the house to have the opener Learn the Homelink. Otherwise the door kept opening and closing while I taught the Homelink from the original remote.

    Try that?

So u suggesting, I use 1 of the working remote
    Drive down the block
And program the home link using the remote?
And drive back home to test it?

Correct. But when you get back to the house, you'll have to press the Learn button on the opener - probably need a ladder to reach up the back of it to press the button . Once you press Learn, press the button on your Homelink. The opener should flash a couple times. Then, hopefully, all will work just fine.

Ok... reading all post and still trying to figure out how to wire this up. 2 wires on the homelink. Assume, one positive and one negative (but no idea on what one is what.) Also I'm guessing that I need to connect this to switched power source or does it need power all the time to save the programming?

Be very careful when cutting through the headliner in that area, the wires going to the driver side vanity mirror light are glued to the headliner and are in that general area. Don't ask me how I found this out  , oh yeah I also discovered the hard way this lighting all runs off a single 7.5A fuse in the fuse block under the hood.

my son's. I wired a LED to flash when the button is pushed and right now it is only on with ignition on, even though it is hidden away.

Top 5 interior mods in my opinion.

Does anybody know if there is room to install this device just aft of the overhead console on a 2nd Gen (2014)?

Reviving this. Are there any other wires nearby that aren't always hot that I can tap into for this? I don't like that fact that if my truck is parked in the driveway they could still open the garage. Might as well just leave the opener clipped to the visor.

Just finished mine up and a little bit of warning to people installing in the same location the OP did. If you have lighted vanity mirrors be careful where you cut. I cut the wires to the drivers side vanity. Not a big deal for me since I don't ever use it but just a heads up.
