Just received my pair yesterday. Gonna install them tonight. My truck only drops about 1 1/2" when I hook up my boat.

Should be able to use them with any leaf pack or AAL setup as they just replace the factory bumpstop. I have factory leafs with no lift and an ARE MX topper. With nothing in the bed or on the hitch the frame rides about a gnats-assish off the sumos. Driving around town without a doubt they touch the frame in corners or over bumps but the spring rate is not noticeble in the cab at all. I haven’t off roaded with them to feel how much they affect the ride at full flex.

Quick, simple install for these. Went with the 47's just to be sure. Usually pull a 19' boat that weighs about 3700lbs probably.

How are these working for you since you installed them? I am also on the fence about the 40s or 47s. I would be towing about 3-4,000lb. On one side I’m thinking I should play it safe and get the 47 but on the other side I don’t want the ride to suffer if the 47s are to stiff, in which case I would go for the 40s. Decisions decisions :annoyed:

No need for 47’s towing that weight, unless you’re also carrying around 1000lbs in your bed

honestly don't even notice a difference except when going over a speed bump.

Does anyone have the height dimensions of the 612-40 vs the 610-40? Earlier someone mentioned the 612 is shorter, but by how much? Didnt see anything on the Sumospring site.

Good write up on a nice product. If you have a cap or any other permanent additions be sure to include what those can weigh in your calculations. As with any spring rate changes, your gross capacity doesn't change, only how the vehicle rides and where it sits in the range of travel. Ideally you want to avoid bottoming hard regardless of whether you use leafs alone, air bags, or sumos since it creates a fulcrum at the frame contact point which can result in damage to the axles, bearings, or frame, especially when towing which creates a larger leverage than bed weight alone. Slightly too stiff is harsh and not ideal since you don't get the benefit of the full range of travel but still probably to be preferred over too soft with frequent bottoming.

I just installed a set and they seem great so far. But I heard, after I installed them, that you're not supposed to reuse/re-torque u-bolts. Is there any issue with reusing the u-bolts as long as they seem to be in good condition?

I reused mine, fine so far, 40,000.miles. I check mine every 10,000.miles or so. Put mine on when the truck was new.

I don't think those are "torque to yield" bolts. I reused mine, no issue. Planning on checking torque at the next 10,000 mile mark.

First of all, I installed mine nearly 5 years oago on my '16. There was nothing about "do not re-use" then. So, I re-used them and re torqued after a set time. No issues.
