I went JBL GT series in the doors, the kicker tweeters in the corners. Sounds great using same volume as I did with stock.

I think if you are happy with the volume the current unit can provide and the goal is more range you are going to be extremely happy with this upgrade. After the upgrade when I used to turn up to 49-50 now I only need 38-45. The sound is much more complete, most noticeable in the lows from my perspective.

Thank you for this post. I was nervous about taking off my door panels before putting an order through Crutchfield, since you can’t preview the included instructions.

Taking the door off is easy, hardest part is deciding how to install the speaker mounting adapter to the speaker so it fits the door mounting holes.

Would it not work if you mount the adapter to the door mounting holes first and then the speaker to the adapter? Or does the adapter and the speaker have to be connected before putting in the door?

I double layered my doors, and did the back wall and it’s noticeable, but not by much. Adding it to the stock speakers won’t do much because the point of the deadener is to add weight to your thinner pieces of metal to reduce vibration caused by heavy bass from aftermarket speakers.

I think I had to drill a hole or two in those plastic adapters too.

1st post of the thread shows the speaker mounted, showing the screws slightly misaligned to the adapter, I think 3 of the 4 fit with drilling a 4th hole.

I told you it took me an hour trying to decide how to mount the speakers to the adapter, now you know why. :D

Oh and get ready to do the same pseudo customizing on the rears, they don't fit anything out of the box either.

Very helpful post. Today I installed the Kicker tweeters, front and back Kicker speakers, and Noico sound deadening using this writeup, the OEM video and one other post that escapes me right now.

Thanks to TW members for making it so easy. The sound is an enormous improvement over stock, all for under 300.

I installed the tweeters and front door speakers this weekend on my 17TRDSport 4 door. Here's what I discovered. Hope this is helpful.

It took lots longer than anticipated.

Tweeters are pretty easy to install. It can be done without removing the A panel cover and disconnecting the battery, at least in my experience. It's easier to replace the speaker grille when the A pillar cover is already in place. Again, my experience.

The front door speakers were not difficult to install but time consuming. It was not necessary to remove the green and white metal balls from the door handle. I just slipped the silver handle through the interior door slot. That saved me from trying to remember where the green and silver balls attach.

I covered as much of the metal door with the sound deadening material as I could reach. I concentrated on the metal in back of the openings of the metal interior part of the door. I also added material around the edge of the plastic grill. Plastic interior, of course.

I did not throw out the plastic that covers the door. Rather, I pulled it away so I could reach through the openings. Then I replaced it against the black sticky stuff, and then put deadening over the openings that the fiber material covers.

The biggest challenges??? The frame to hold the speakers is a pain to position and screw in. I had to make a new hole in the frame. Careful not to puncture the speaker.

The wires slide into metal connector at the speaker end nicely. The biggest problem was that the wire to use for the replacement speakers had just 2 bear wires at the other end. My solution was to push the wires into the original white plastic harness, tape it up, and now it works just fine.

I was concerned about polarity, but there was nothing in the instructions or on the speaker clips to help me figure this out. So, I took a chance. For the front door, the negative wire from the speakers inserts into the harness opening that is next to the smooth edge of the harness. Sound is good.

Took lots longer than I expected. Best not to rush.
