Yeah. I just didn't want anything to wide that just makes a mess of the truck. Also need a tire to cut through snow rather than mud. I went a bit taller tire. I really like the TOYO'S. Almost went with Falkins.

How do you like the snorkel? I installed a TRD Cold Air with throttle body spacer.

I had the Falken wild peaks on my old Dakota. I thought they were amazing in the snow, plus the price was pretty low too. I was considering going with them again i just think they don't look quite as aggressive as the dura tracs

I was yoko's on all my vehicles. Nice tire, just wanted something a little more aggressive but still highway friendly and quiet.

I'm kind of partial to it but at the same time I'm used to it being there. I think the whole "desert air intake" was kind of stupid to put on models being sold here in pa and this general area but it is what it is. Haha. I actually get compliments on it from time to time so I guess its ok lol

Hey man, welcome to the best damn Tacoma forum on the interwebs. :hattip: Not sure if you are on this thread yet or not but I am sure you got homies on here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/pennsylvania.10467/

I'm running Cooper S/T Maxx (255/85R16) on 16" 2nd Gen Off Road Wheels (16"x 7.5", 10mm offset Wheel). These are 33" tires but are only as wide as the OEM tires. I thought about doing a little lift, and depending on what armor I eventually add, I might do a little. For now though, I am not sure I needed to remove the mud flaps. I may put them back on just to see what happens. I tested rubbing by stuffing all four corners and nothing. :notsure:

It rides great on the road at all speeds too.

My thought for going 285 was being a little wider may help a bit to keep the wheels from potentially getting scrapped up. Happened on my last tacoma.

How'd you mount the roof rack with the snorkel in the way? What kind of roof rack is it?

Well, the rings on these wheels will get damaged long before the inner hub. I suppose anything is possible though. Get some rocks in there while deep in a mud puddle and yea. You just have to be ready to accept that or go with a second set. You could also just get some steelies. Those you can spray paint after each time you hit the trail. I would only run OEM Toyota wheels or SCS wheels. I'm funny that way.

Wider tires are just going to throw more debris up onto the sides too. You need to be careful to be sure you get the right offset so the wider tires doesn't contact your UCAs and when you do that you're increasing the chances of rub at half turn or more. That will lead to a front end alignment in hopes of achieving an increased caster angle, or you will need a CMC.

Do wider tires look good. Hell yea. Once you get over that and realize all the benefits of a skinny tire and the fact that wider tires are great on the track, and in the frozen tundra, on beaches or dunes, you probably will get over it quicker. Now there is some controversy wheather wider tires are better in the snow than narrow tires and I do agree, in shallow snow more contact patch is better, but in the mud or deep snow, getting the contact patch down to the terra firma is what matters. Ice, forget about it. Ice is ice.

Prinsu came out with a model designed to work with the snorkel on the Pro. I did ultimately add a couple delrin spacers only because I didn't like how the snorkel bolted flush against it. It's a great product with a great company behind it. Yes it is expensive and there are likely cheaper versions with just as great companies behind them but I wanted something that all my friends had because if I needed help with anything they would be familiar.

I had a 17' Sport Long Bed. It was pretty sweet and I loved it. Then a person not paying attention pulled out in front of me at an intersection while I was doing 50 mph and it was totalled. I'm so glad I upgraded to the Pro and like the last one, I plan on keeping this truck forever.

Are you an expert in shocks design?, you're saying that you are sure that Fox shocks are stronger than Bilsteins ?...Bilstein has been making shock absorbers for a very long time, they also have more than one type...they equipped some of the first Baja races and won races !

No. I am not. However, the dinky struts that come on a stock TRD Offroad a very obviously weaker than the Foxes that come on a TRD Pro. Never said all bilsteins are weaker than fox.

Picked up a set of 285/75/16 KM3s. Could resist the buy 3 and get one free at dealer cost.
I love my RTs on the FJ, just wanted a bit more meat on the taco pulling an offroad trailer I will take any rubber I can get.

I did the same thing. Installed 275/65/18's and had the remove the flaps. Drove it a couple of days and heard a dink or two from rocks somewhere on the truck. Got out the Drimmel and trimmed the part of the flap around the cab mount and no more rub.

No rubbing at all. Took my front flaps off before new tires were put on. Haven’t checked to see if they would rub — will get a front pic today.
