    just tried this.

Cleats, right? Where'd you put them? Is the tire straight vertical?

I put my cleats to the outside, where the outer nub touches the tire. If I push them inward, it pushes the tire forward.
But your pic looks like they are behind/inside the wheel which has me thinking to try that, hopefully it still pulls it snug.
I actually tilted the tire in at the bottom to be at an angle in plans to put my softopper back on after I clean it; hopefully I can get it to clear.
Your pic tells me it can.

Just have to figure out a balance of where to mount traction boards. Kind of wanted the spare at the center or right to offset gas tank lean and not hinder visibility so much, but at this point it's pros and cons and I'm sure I'll have to pay the cost of gaining clearance under the bed by losing a bit of rear visibility and rely more on sideview mirrors now.
I guess time will tell from daily driving if it stays put and quiet.

Kind of want to rotate the "Wildpeak" lettering down so prospective thieves (softopper is still off) don't walk by and go "WHOA, WILDPEAK $230 value!"
then again, nothing is stopping them from stealing one under the bed. But I guess that's harder because it would require breaking a window and assembling the spare tool.

Can't beat the price. $20 for 2 cleats vs Wilco $300...
Kind of tricky to tension the ratchet strap, not too loose, but also hopefully not so tight that it gradually damages the bedrails

Kind of wish I cleaned the spare before mounting it. Might get pretty dirty sleeping in there camping. Hopefully it doesn't smell like rubber when the softopper goes back on. Tire isn't brand new so hopefully the smell has offgassed and gone away in the fresh air.

How did you run your softopper front panel?
Mine has two flaps; so far I always ran the outer flap between the bed and cab, and inner flap hanging inside the bed. Or, curved over my Xbull traction boards which were mounted.
After taking off the softopper recently I noticed grey marks on the outer panel almost like it had been rubbing paint off the cab over time...
I don't think I had the softopper adjusted forward enough given I see it move a bit driving from wind,
but I left space there so when I wash I can still spray there for some cleaning...

Hey guys, I know this thread is a bit older, but this uses the front drain plug for one of the mounting holes right? does anyone know what size hardware I need to get? As in width and length of the bolt.

This is the best option I've seen posted so far in regards to a bed-mounted spare that retains the most room and visibility. I still plan on trying to do something similar when I get around to it.
