I'd like to use my 55" TV to play an ambient video of a fish tank or fireplace. I know there are several DVD options but I'm wondering if I can download something to a USB and play it using the USB port on the side of the TV.

The TV is a Lg 55LH40. I also have a Roku player, blu-ray player and PS3.

    Thanks.

I see no reason why not. Also, my cable provider offers several screensavers in the menu as well.

I'm just not sure the TV would have the software to play a video. Your computer needs something like quicktime or windows media player....without software, it doesn't know how to read the information stored on the drive.

Can you load driver software on a thumb drive?

If you have a roku, you should be able to go to YouTube and just search fireplace or fish tank.
