Hi! i'm relatively new to the truck game and never owned a taco before. However, i just recently sold my bmw M4 trying to get an cement gray 2017 PRO. unfortunately the deal did not go thru so i'm going to be purchasing a 2020 TRD PRO when it comes out. Did a little research and it seems a little difficult to get my hands on a TRD PRO for MSRP. Does anyone have any experience with this? I will be buying vehicle for cash at MSRP if possible... and i would love not to pay mark up if that is a thing, all the stealership i spoken too seems dead set on selling me a 2019 at msrp and laughing at me potentially getting a 2020 without mark up.

any advice and suggestion is appreciated! oh, and im located in los angeles.

P.S: please help me with TRD PRO(army green)... i dont need suggestion on how i can save money buying a OR...

If you hop into your local regional thread ask a few of the Pro guys there how difficult it would be to get a Pro in your neck of the woods. They'll be able to tell you if you actually need to pre-order or if you can wait until they hit the lots. Out here in the North East they're relatively easy to get with some shopping

My dealer made it sound like it wasn’t difficult. All it took was a 4-8 week wait.

Thanks man, i will try that as well. Honestly i have no problem flying out of state as long as its not full blown east coast to pick up a pro for MSRP. most of these dealership around socal are doing 10k+ mark up... then california will rape you with 11% tax.

I don't think you'd have to go that far. Before I got my offroad and decided I wanted to build something a bit more than the pro I was shopping them after the first quarter of release an they were maybe $1k over window. Cali I know can be a bit of a different ball game with stuff, so I still say check with the regional guys. Let me know if you need some links to post in, I can help you with if need be.

Put down a refundable deposit with the agreement to pay MSRP. They can’t guarantee the color since they are only allocated so many and don’t know what they will get. If you are first in line, you can bypass if not Army Green.
When they start hitting lots, start a multi state search, if Army Green not spoken for, negotiate for it and get deposit back on reserved allocation. You might get lucky on your reserved allocation you put deposit on.

Supply and demand. PRO is a very sought after model. Plenty of buyers willing to pay asking price. Good luck on your buying experience.

Can you put a deposit on a 2020 without known pricing?

Since you are new to trucks and Tacomas may I ask why you are dead set on a pro?

Getting one at MSRP shouldn't be a challenge, you may have to travel though. In my experience ordering one was not possible. Every dealer in the NW said the same thing, which lead me to believe them, Pros are allocation only vehicles and they get them based off the performance of the dealership. Dealers that move more vehicles tend to get more. You can put a deposit and get on a wait list here, first come first serve.

Someone will chime in shortly and say you can order one, YMMV, it wasn't possible for me. If you want one though, be ready to buy, people on the list aren't going to pass typically. For some these are status vehicles and they wont buy anything less, those people wont pass.

My neighbor ordered a Pro from Camelback Toyota in Arizona. It took about 2 months and he got it for MSRP and they didn't add any dealer add ons.

I'm not questioning that, just curious why a PRO, and in stock trim sure maybe its the best, but he can also take the money savings not buying a PRO and build a better truck aftermarket, which being new to Tacomas and the truck world he may not know. Plus what are his needs in the first place? A cool mall crawler? Actually using the truck? etc.

“new to the truck game”, but need an army green pro. Gotta look cool for the other OC Dbags with more money than brains.
