This is what I had the most trouble with in the beginning while doing the BHLM. Everything I read said pull up! That wasn't true for our trucks. They pull out nice and easy directly towards you(the bottom end).

    Reviving a dead thread:

So the easiest way to release those bottom tabs is to grab one side of the grill in the "headlight vent" and pull towards yourself?

    Thanks

Yes. However, there are only 2 bolts at the top and 2 plastic rivets at the top. No rivets or clips need to come off the bottom side. Once those bolts and clips are removed from the top, just pull straight out towards you from the headlight vents.

    Done.

Super easy pulling from one side. 10 minutes MAYBE from opening the hood to closing the hood.

Ok, about to remove the front grill later this week, OP mentioned to remove the 3 plastic clips on the inside bottom (middle hard to get to)... so are you saying those bottom clips actually don't need to be removed? Just want to clarify so I don't destroy anything.

Man, it was so easy with my 1st gen, I just pushed down on an integrated metal clip and it would just pop out of it's groove. Sounds like this grill is gonna be a b*ch to tackle if I don't follow a proper method.

Thanks for all the tips on this thread!

These are the only bolts and clips to remove. Nothing on the bottom end gets removed.

Thanks! Looks like that will save me some time, headache, and keep my arms from bleeding with the klutzy ways I've remove things in the past.

After trying everything else suggested here to remove the grill so I could move the Gentex the mirror temp sensor from it's temporary location to the correct location in front of the center radiator support piece, this method method worked for me. No amount of pulling, banging it from behind or fiddling with the two black plastic tabs on either side on the bottom would budge it. (Not for the faint-of-heart.) When I slipped a couple of fingers under it next to the small grille on the left bottom corner and applied firm steady pressure from behind, it popped right out. Same for the right side. It was obvious that it had never been removed looking at the bottom slide tabs. They only had one mark on each of them from sliding it out of the white slot.
