My compass in a 06 taco doesnt work. I found a really nice thread on it possibly being a broken solder joint or transistor so i want to try it but cant get the thing off.. Figure id rather ask first how to safely pull it before i learn the hard way:rolleyes:

Open the sunglass holder and there should be 2 bolts you need to remove. Then get your fingers between the edges of the console and the headliner on the windshield end and gently but firmly tug downwards. Be careful not to lose the clips that hold it in place.

Then you need to seperate the display from the console. There are 4 small pressure tabs that hold it in place, be careful not to break these.

edit: If your a window tinter in Charlotte, I will do it for you for the price of a windshield strip

oh ok :D. Yea there is just one screw then, my sunglass holder was cut off so I was unsure how many there are. But yea just give it a good tug down on the front and it should pop off.

And if the clips on the front part go sideways over the headliner, just run a good sized magnet under the headliner and you can drag them back to the hole.
