I have a 1998 Tacoma and I would like to remove the stereo to attempt to hook up a IPOD adapter. The factory unit that is installed has a CD player in it. One, does anyone know what kind of unit is installed (who makes it) and where I could find out ahead of time what kind of plugs it has on the back side (RCA, 9 pin, etc). Two, if anyone has installed a IPOD car adapter in this late of a model and if so from which manufacturer and finally how to disassemble the unit.

Any or all parts of this request responded to would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hey Randy,

You may want to post your questions in the toyota nation forum. I believe lots of folks there have removed their stereo and some have probably already hooked up the ipod adapter. here is the link. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/f79

Hey randy! Welcome I have a 1997 and I just decided to install an aftermarket radio. It might not be what you want but it would probably be the easiest way to get a hookup. They usually come with a USB port that you can just connect you iPod to and it would let you play your music off of it.

    It's been 14 and a 1/2 years.

I'm sure Randy's got it squared away.

‍♂️ Sorry I looked harder at the post. I’m currently on my phone and I’m newer to this forum thanks for the heads up though.

One can only hope, maybe he’s still looking for that 10mm socket as we speak
