You have to push in and slide it forward at the same time.

Bro...without being there to see it, I would recommend you head to the nearest body shop (Toyota) specialty recommended and have them check it for you.

Did this mod tonight and it looks great! Getting the locking mechanism back into place in the rear handles can be a bit tricky but not too difficult. Very good write up

Still haven't gotten driver side door lock lined up with the bolt. Any ideas? Anyone else have trouble with this?

If you had pictures that would help but are you referring to the mechanism attached to the lock cover on drivers side door or the locking mechanism inside the door that attaches by 3 torx screws?

Are you referring to the bolt inside the rubber boot on the side of the door?

The mechanism attached to lock cover. I'll take pictures in a minute. Yes. Bolt behind the rubber boot.

That's weird. I just put mine back in the way it came out and screwed the bolt in. You said yours isn't lining up?

That's right. Has a huge gap from lock piece to the door handle. I can push it over but it puts a lot of pressure on it.

Is the lock cover piece not going in where it should? My lock cover with the locking mechanism attached to the back just slid right back in where it came from. Pictures would really help because I don't understand how there could be a gap right there unless you are putting it in the wrong way.

Got it fixed. Just had to force it over towards the handle to line it up.

Just figured out that both of my rear door handles from the inside of the truck don't work. Any advice from anyone?

I'm also wondering this same thing. Can anyone tell if there are two different part numbers? One for the rear cover with the key hole and one without?

Found these part numbers searching online. The first two appear to be the covers, and the last one is the handle. The handle looks to be the same part number, left right, front, rear, doesn't matter.

    69217-0E010-A2 Right
    69217-AE020-A3 Left
    69211-AE020-A3 Handle

This dealer has a set, but when asked for part numbers they acted like I was asking for their social security number. Guess I'm not spending money at your dealership.
