How To: Replace Upper Ball Joint

    Yes, you can use pretty much anything to clean the knuckle before installing the new ball joint. I usually use brake cleaner. I also suggest applying a small (like the tiniest amount you can) dab of grease or anti seize to the knuckle bearing surface before pressing the new ball joint in.

    I must’ve sliced a small hole in the boot when I was struggling to get the c-clip on, because after I put it back together and greased the zerk - grease curled out of the back of the rubber boot!! My buddy said it’s such a small hole it’ll still hold up for a few years. What y’all think?

    You put the boot on before the c clip? That was backwards, but water under the bridge.

    Are you sure there is a hole in the boot, or did come from the top or bottom?

    If it's a small hole just get some rubber glue (shoe glue) and put a dab on there.
