About to buy an led light bar and it's going up on the roof racks and wanted to know how to run the wires? Wanted to see pics of how it's run next to the windshield . [IMG]

i have not done it, but maybe run wires into the cabin then up the pillar on the side of the windshield under the cabins plastics, then pull the roof rack off, drill small hole through the roof under the front plastic shield of the roof rack and drill a small hole in the front plastic shield of the roof rack. again put a gromet in the hole and run the wire through it, put the rack back in place and then connect to the bar?

like i said i never did it, but only option i can think of besides just going trough the roof with a gromet.

Pull the pillar off and you can run the wires easily up to the headliner. There are two 10mm bolts that hold the handle on and then pull.

get some self adhesive door edge trim from auto zone, they'll probably only take one wire, use one along the a-pillar on either side.

You can tuck at least one 16ga wire under the moulding opposite the glass.
That's a common way to run GPS/XM antenna wires.

Just make sure anyone doing a windshield replacement knows about it or they'll destroy it.

great point rich91...i don't even notice the trim even being there anymore for my lights,i've got four hella 500's on the roof, think i'll buy and stash some spares just in case, the guys at "XE-AUTOSPORT"in trussville,al. came up with an easy solution for me that wasn't too complicated, and were more than fair on the price..i'll get pics later.i'd love to have some the newer "led's",much less bulky...

So I can't just run the wire under the molding without drilling a hole?

Need a hole somewhere to get from the cab to the bar.
Running under the moulding lets you put the hole in the firewall.

Proper sealing devices do not leak. I have put dozens of antennas on roofs and not a single one has leaked never seen a light bar on a cop car leak either. Kind of put holes in the roof to mount the lights did they leak?

That might be my next purchase. A 50" bar on the roof but I'll be damned if I'm drilling a hole in the roof of my truck. I know there are products out there for just that but fuck that shit. I'll run it next to the windshield.
