changed my plugs yesterday, took about an hour, I had a CAI installed so there was less to move on the passenger side. I actually had to do 7 plugs since my socket got stuck on one of the plugs so I had to uninstall it. I even had tapped it to the extension... Great write up.

I have a quick question, I'm not sure if it has been answered yet since I don't have time to read every post.
I noticed the box of spark plugs on the write up had a quantity of 10. Do they sell them one at a time out of that box, or only at a quantity of 10? I don't fell like paying extra to buy spark plugs I don't need. Granted I could buy another box for next time and I'll be set for two more changes, but that is bull cr@p. I'll still end up with extra spark plugs.

If you dont gap the plugs propperly, the engine may not run propperly. If you dont use Anti Sieze, the plugs may stick in the head.

    Chris,

It’s the first time I changed the plugs on my truck and started with the plug nearest the firewall on the driver side. Because the middle plug was a little easier to access I unplugged that coil first to make sure I was doing it right. Once I got the coil out I found I needed a skinnier socket. To confirm that I went over to the passenger side and removed the coil nearest the rad as it was easier to see. I put it all back together, or so I thought and started the truck up. The check engine light came on and I realized I forgot to plug in the middle coil on the driver side. So I did so but the check engine light is still on. Any idea why now? Everything is back together and the trucks running fine.

You will need to get the code cleared with an OBD2 reader.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Or disconnect the Neg battery cable for a few minutes.

If U or someone U no has a Scangauge U can clear it with that. A few of the parts stores will let U use their code reader for free hoping U will find a reason to buy a part.

On some cars and with some codes, if you start the car enough w/out the problem recurring, the light will clear. It may still be stored, but at least in Illinois, stored codes will not result in a failed test if the CEL is not on. I would suspect that a CEL that results from an engine miss will clear if the miss goes away. it might take 25 start cycles so you might have to wait a couple weeks.

go to autozone, they can clear it
they aren't suppose to, especially when the manager is there
when I had my 2000 Altima... it was coming alot and so I keep going back to autozone to turn off the engine light, i had like 170k miles on it.

Thanks guys for the info. Looks like the computer picked up the unplugged coil as a fault. Once it was plugged back in I turned the truck on/off a few times and the light went out.
