Go with the Denso or NKG's from the dealership, they cost like $4 each. Some people have issues with the Iridiums, I actually bought NKG Iridiums and took them right back after I read up on how they worked in the trucks... Just my .02

Get the coppers. Change them more frequently. (Which isn't that frequently at all.)

    Don't fuck with what works.

Synthetic oil/lubes used throughout. NGK Iridium Lazer 100K spark plugs. Rear differential breather extension modification. Toyota front skid plate, roof rack, bed mat, chrome exhaust exhaust. Runs like new!
The 2nd time around I swithced over to NGK lazer iridiums (purchased at NAPA) plugs at 72K. Have 79K on 05 truck now. Truck runs like new. I'm not going to waste time and money changing plugs every 30K. That is rediculous in my mind. Another way for Toyota to make money since most people have there vehicles serviced at dealer. Only use Denso or NGK per Toyota service dept. Not sure what "Lazer" actually is/difference;plugs were an upgrade option. They were only .69C more per plug, had to ordered them anyway and figured you get what you pay for. Good luck.

Heck, my dealership service advisor said if I bring in the iridium plugs that they'd put them. He just said make sure they Denso or NGK.

Regapped my original ngk/denso at 92,xxx miles. Used a little ingenuity to get the plugs out. Used the coil boot :)

Got this done in about 35 minutes for the first time today. Thanks for the write up. Didn't really need to take off all the driver's side stuff either. Used a length of rubber hose to remove the plugs and start threading them to avoid crossing threads. Thanks for the write up. :)

You can get it "snug" with your hands, then use the torque wrench.

Just finished replacing my '09 Taco's plugs. Excellent write up; the passenger side is very easy whereas the driver's side takes a liitle time. Overall though a simple process.

I have a V-6 and installed Autolite irridium plugs, supposedly good for 100K. The original plugs were in excellent shape, with 45000 miles on them.

Don't know if you traced this thread out or not, but other a number of other Tacoma owners have had problems with the irridium plugs. It's best just to run the standard Denso plugs.

That's weird, the owner's manual specifies them for the 4 cyl.

Some have had issues with irridium plugs in the V6, some have been good with the irridium plugs. The thing that would concern me more is that they are Autolite plugs. It's been even more well established that the Tacoma can have issues with plugs that aren't either Denso or NGK. Even when I spoke with the Toyota service advisors they did not see a reason for not using irridium plugs but they made a specific point on the brands that should be used.
