    they look a little dark, but it could be the pics. Are you running an after market intake?

    No after market intake. Just a Green Filter air filter and Borla exhaust that came on truck from port (TSS Package). I was concerned about the "burnt" looking areas on the ceramic insulation near the shell and the yellowish color to the ground electrode. The threads do have some oily residue on them.

    Actually, I believe it is a Green Filter brand, but similar to K&N. It is oiled.

    That's probably why the plugs are darker than normal. Run an Oil free cleaner, preferable OEM.

    You mean air filter? I've always heard that the reusable filters are better.

    Every oiled air filter I have tested, let way more dirt in, than even the cheapest paper filter. The OEM filter has a great flow capacity, and seems to filter the best of all the ones I have tested.

    Thanks for info. I just assumed this filter was an "upgrade" because it was added at the port with the Borla exhaust.

    Sorry if this has already been asked and answered but there are a lot of posts in this thread. Many vehicles require that plugs be removed and installed when the enging/head is cold. Is this true for a 2007 Tacoma Pre Runner with the 6 cyl VVT engine?

    Yes. torqueing the spark plugs on a hot engine can strip the threads.

    Thanks for the thread Chris. :)

    I just did my plugs yesterday @ 30k ... It seems better. I did notice the gaps on the old plugs were worn down to around close to .050"

    I also changed my rear diff oil yesterday too. I was surprised at the condition because it was still fairly golden in color.

    Oh, I didn't know this.

    I don't change the plugs on a hot engine, for you can burn yourself.

    But I thought a warm engine prevented you from breaking the plug.

    Good to keep in mind next time. Cold engine.

    My Tacoma has over 106K miles on it. I purchased it used with about 82K on it. When I removed the plugs, I found that the plugs were Denso on the right bank and NGK on the left. This is consistant with other posts/threads that indicate that this is a factory configuration for reasons that can not be determined.

    This would tell me that the plugs had not been changed since the vehicle was new and were factory origional. The were not the iridium plugs. The plugs had gaps close to .060 but otherwise looked good.

    I replaced them with the Denso Iridium plugs. I hope this improved my gas mileage which has never been much above 18 mpg and lately has been in the 16 to 17 mpg range.
