I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
The first thing I would do is go up to there truck wile there huntin and tape a NO Trespassing sign on the windshield. And if they come back I'd put some bird shot in the side of the truck. But I'm kinda crazy

Just get some clear fishing line and hang some fish hooks about eye or face level (whichever floats your boat) from a few different limbs where he's riding his 4wheeler, go home, watch the corn grow, then go back later and see if you caught him.

Just remember where you hung them.

like the other guys said, may want to post "property is under surveillance". It may not be required by the law (since it's your own private property) - but if you do go to court, it certainly won't hurt. It'll at least keep the defense attorney from tossing out your video as evidence. (a few bucks for some signs? worth it to cover your own ass...)

I'm thinking higher megapixel may be better, but it may not actually increase resolution. I'd say that's what you're after when picking a camera, resolution not megapixel. (megapixel is a buzzword these days, doesn't really mean much)

quick search on google for game camera turned up this guy:

Someone got killed near me because someone did that on a public trail using metal wire. Apparently it was next to their house so they got pissed and retaliated. 5 lb test about 3' off the ground would be interesting... Fish hooks optional.

Any chance you think he is poaching on your property? If so get the Conservation Department invovled. Let them lay the trap and catch him and even if they don't catch him poaching maybe they'll catch him trespassing and I assume that would have more sway then just him against you. Some of the other suggestions sound good if there were not liability but keep in mind even if he is trespassing you could be held liable if he is injured on your property.

If you lay a trap for him and he gets hurt you are liable even though he is trespassing. Totally not worth letting him sue you to get some sort of revenge for his taking your deer.

I've had a lot of trespassing issues with hunters where I live since I am surrounded my 800 acres of semi-abandoned woods bordering farms. Even though some of these guys are real Aholes I have never had to do anything more then approach them while they were going in and explain that the posted signs aren't a joke. If that's not enough I inform them that if they cross them they will be arrested upon their return from then on.

If you really want to nail the guy find a trooper who is game and just go to your property line at say 9:30 or so on any Saturday morning during the season. Odds are he would be on his way out.

Its a bummer that the DB rides a quad. My personal favorite is to remove all the flagging tape that poachers around here use most of the way to their stand while they are in it and send them to the middle of no where. Bonus points for doing it at dusk!

This day and age, if you put spike strips down, or fishing wire or whatever on your own property, you will probably get sued. At least that is how it works out here in California. a bad guy broke into someones home and the home owner shot him, paralyzing the bad guy. Bad guy actually sued the home owner because he was no longer able to do his job and provide for his family, which was breaking into homes and stealing stuff, then selling it.

I'd still do the trip wires though, along with the security camera, so you can share it with all of us! :)

But to top it off, you gotta tie a little golden bell to the trip wire.

    *dingalingading* GOT EM!

What kind of fence do you have around your property? Anyway to beef that up to keep the douchebag on his side? Electrify it one day and use enough juice so that if he touches it he'll remember it for a long time.

I used to live in Fargo and in the short time I was there I can honestly say all the people I met there were good folks. Sucks you have to deal with this.

There is some fence around the property, but trust me it will not stop him from using the land. Actually I am moving towards removing most of the fence line since every year during the flood it gets all clogged up and makes a huge mess. I no longer use the land for cattle pasture land so the fence isnt necessary, its more of my own personal hunting grounds.

I am also pretty sure that the d-bag isnt the only person tresspassing. I think he might of told some of his friends because there have been neighbors telling me that they saw some other vehicles parked at the gate's entrance.

I am just excited to go bust some ass on some trespassers / poachers...
