I did mine 2 years ago and they need to be redone because the tint has faded a bit, but they weren't that dark to begin with.

Best thing is sanding and paint thinner... You have to be careful though because too much of either and you can crack your lenses.

Nice! I'll deff be trying this as my first mod my new Taco. I had nightshade covers on my Silverado and while I got a nice dark look, they just looked bulky. Will take a little time ,but will get a better look and be cheaper than buying covers.

Yours seemed to turn out a bit darker, did you use the black gloss clear coat?

That's so sick!!! props on the tint job, looks professional. Also, a great way to avoid all this debate about how dark is too dark, laws, tickets, visibility and such. and IMO it looks AWESOME! Thanks for pics and technique, I think I'll be doing this method to my Taco soon. Mahalo!

Utahn here... It's apparently a big deal legal wise in the mid west. I've been pulled over twice. First time, cop issued ticket. Second time, cop was a Tacoma owner and wanted to know how to do a satoshi and let me off  Moral of the story. Check your local laws, and keep modding your truck.

Is the tail light difficult to take apart? I was wondering if anyone had tried to plasti dip or paint the chrome ring around the brake light on the '12/'13 Tacomas? I am thinking of tinting my tail lights just a light smoke, but think the chrome ring will still stand out. Maybe this is a dumb idea and not all that noticeable.

I've seen someone black out the inside of the housing. But they didn't tint it afterwords... there's really no point. Blacking out the housing would allow the LEDs to be seen at their full potential rather than be slightly dimmed by night shade. Here's a picture from RedCBS' build.
