ya, when I first got the truck, the front mud flaps would scrape speed bumps when I went over them. however, I have since removed the mud flaps after doing the lift.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Mine did not with the 3 inch lift. But I have them off now as I was running 285/75/17. And they rubbed bumper at full lock.

They were only on temp as my new 265/75/16 came in

This mod was a wonderful idea which I had done shortly after getting the truck (5 years ago). I used to get hung up going over the curb in front of the house.
I measured the back flaps and cut the fronts at the same length ... cardboard template, dremel cutoff ... worked like a champ.

Lately though, my back flaps were bothering me; the "4x4", on the exhaust side only, was fading. The other day, while washing the truck I decided to scrub the white off with a ScotchBrite sponge. The raised letters are still visible, but is blacked out from the rear. I think I like the look.

Let me know what you think.
P.S. I'm not trying to threadjack. I just thought it would be stupid to start a new thread over my little mod; this seemed like a logical spot..

stock front mud flaps got ripped off wheeling, im going to get a set of flexible armor rally mud flaps before the winter hits in our rust belt state. the stock flaps are garbage, and can cause more harm them good. I am thankful mine trashed themselves early on in my trucks life. Anyone who enjoys offroading I suggest flexible flaps.

I was backing up over a raised sewer manhole cover when it caught the rear mud flap. I heard a "twang"!, caught some black object out of the corner of my eye cartwheeling into the woods.
When I got out to see what the object was, I found my mud flap.
    Ripped right off the vehicle!

Upon closer inspection, I found that the wheel molding was torn from the body of the truck. Not just the plastic tabs that hold the molding to the body, but the actual molding tab that is part of the molding.

Must of caught just right, freak accident.
    So....cut those mud flaps

CAREFUL application of a blow torch on the leftover edge makes it smooth, rounded and shiny. Practice on the cutoff piece first...just feather it. There is a pretty large margin of error. You can use this any time you cut a hole in most plastics...perfect the method on the scrap piece first. It turns out sweet every time.

I took 5" off my front flaps. I hated the way that they looked. The back are fine the way they are. I ended up destroying 5 out of the 6 retainer clips when removing the flap....It was 5 degrees outside and the road salt was jammed around the ends pretty good. Just went to the dealership for some more OEM clips. Looks much better now. Thanks for the write-up. Very simple to do. I don't know if I would have thought of that myself.
