How would you rate Toyota's CPO program?

    12k/1 year warranty?Powertrain?

    160 point inspection?

Overall, trust and condition of CPO vehicles?

I have no idea. The last used Toyota I bought was this 1966 Corona:

Really, no one's purchased CPO and has any experience or feedback?

Its basically a used vehicle with a better warranty. Tires and brakes have a minimum spec to pass for certification. Basic overall condition is supposed to be better as well. Really depends on whether the dealer follows the guidelines.

I just bought a 2015 CPO, DC,Taco, with 9000 miles. I was a one year low millage lease vehicle.
I don't know about the 160 point inspection, but they never greased the U-joints.
I love the truck and have had no problems with it. However, I don't trust my local dealer at all.

Most vehicles do not have grease fittings these days. Therefore I believe most dealers are unaware that the Tacomas have them. Greasing the ball joints, steering arms, etc. use to be part of changing the oil.

If the DEALER mechanics don't know Taco's have zerk fittings, [driveshaft/s]then, well, what is the value of some ''CPO" program and what monetary/peace of mind value does it have to the customer?

Even ''honest al's used cars'' offer 12K/one year warranties on late model used vehicles with low miles, it's nothing special any more, especially if the dealer doesn't even do a complete check. [and it's not like those zerks are hiding, only the front driveshaft one behind the heat shield is out of sight if even a cursory inspection is done.]

Clean, check brakes, fill fluids, oil change, run scan on any codes, place on lot, add $1000 for ''CPO status,'' laugh at suckers because that's what they likely do to all the vehicles they will sell on the lot, any high m ileage beat to heck trade in's will get dumped at a auction site just like every other new car dealer does no matter the make/manufacturer.

I did not grease the driveshaft on my 2009 over 87.5k miles and it never fell off. I think greasing every oil change is way overkill but the zerks are there so I at least do the rear. If not hunting season I do not use 4x4 enough to worry about the front.

Actually, water/salt intrusion, if they [bearing caps and needles] are dry will wipe out roller bearing in the cups if a front driveshaft just sits all the time. Once they dry out and brinnell, they will fail quite quickly cauing vibration when 4wd is used.

My point though was that the dealer, of all places, should grease the U Joints if they performed a through check and did required maintenance. It is a VERY cheap thing to do using maybe 50 cents to a bucks worth of high quality grease.

No real salt around here and I do not drive through deep water. I would not trust or expect a dealer to grease u joints.

I bought a 2012 Tacoma CPO about 5 months ago. I am very happy with the condition of the vehicle. I brought it to my mechanic, who has been working on my cars for almost 20 years, and he said that the truck was flawless. He usually finds some things to nitpick over, but he found nothing on this truck. I think warranties are only as good as the dealership taking care of you. Part of the reason I bought my truck where I did was the dealers reputation for good service. I wasn't planning on getting a CPO vehicle, but its been a good experience overall....
